Review of Your Baby Can Read!

Do babies need to know how to read? Probably not. Would it be great to see them get a head start on phonics and language comprehension? You bet!

Your Baby Can Read! is one of the most simple, yet exciting, learning programs I've had the pleasure of trying with my young children. Used with my kids (ages 1, 2, and 4) twice a day for a few weeks, I can see the gears turning in their little heads, and a love for books and reading coming alive!

Your Baby Can Read! is a fun and simple early language development system that was created by Dr. Robert Titzer, an expert of infant development and research. His research has been published in scientific journals and his own daughter was a successful student of the program! Just look at the videos of other young children using their new skills to enjoy words and reading...

At first I was really skeptical of any program that claims to teach babies to read. What I love about this program, however, is that is has been tested time and time again. Even if your tiny tot doesn't grasp the entire concept of reading as early as some of the children on the videos, I guarantee that their awareness and fondness for books and learning will increase significantly!

Each video is to be viewed twice a day. At only 15 minutes or so in length, it is not too long for your children to lose interest. Each video is highly interactive, but not so overstimulating that it disrupts their attention skills. The kit comes with 5 videos to be viewed in progressive order over a period of several months by children ages 6 months to 5 years. Several sturdy flashcards are included to get some extra learning in!

Kids like it. I love it. What's better?

Visit Your Baby Can Read! for all the details. You'll be glad you did!

Do you want Your Baby to read? One lucky winner will be taking home a Your Baby Can Read! 5 DVD Box Set & Sliding Word Cards (valued at &79.95!) Just visit the Your Baby Can Read website, and tell us the age of the child you would use this program for AND one language development skill from the guide on this page. You have until this Sunday, the 17th at 11pm CST to enter. Full rules can be seen here.

My daughter's 18 months old, and according to this milestone page, she should be able to say 15 words. She knows and can say about 30, so we're off to a good start! I'd love to win! ( meg.wilson@gmail.com )

My girls are 2 and 4 but it would mainly be for the 2 year old.

They will have a vocabulary of approximately 250 words by 24 months

As a speech/language clinician, I would be very interested in trying this out. I would be using it with my 10 month old. One of the skills in language development is "babies will understand the concept of object permanence." around 10-12 months old. Thanks for the chance to try this product!

What a cool idea! I'd use this program with my 12-month old nephew. One of the skills for his age group is "babies begin to identify some familiar people". How cool would it be if he could identify his Auntie!! :)

My son will be turning 10 months soon. At this stage he will identify some items by pointing or imitating objects named by others.

My daughter is in the 12-18 month category and she should have a vocab of about 15 words when she is at 18 months. Great give-a-way!

Kirsten said...

I would use this for my 29 month old child. He has developmental delays and is displaying some autistic behaviors. He currently can only say about 15 words.

According the language skill development chart, children should, at 24 months, have a significant growth in their language development. I have noticed that my child has increased word comprehension but just articulate them yet. I am doing all that I can to increase his vocabulary and I think this would be helpful at speech development.

My 2 yr old needs this! (& me too)I've seen the Japanese school system at work, and I know this can happen.

I'm curious about this. My daughter is 15 months old but English is her second language so she's just starting to associate "ma" with me and "da" with my husband. I doubt she'll have 15 recognizable words in English by 18 months, as the guide suggests. Thanks for an interesting contest.

My daughter is 19 m.o. and is currently learning Chinese and English at the same time. This set would help her with the English part since she's taken to Chinese more, at this point. One of the langauge skills is being able to identify objects when asked, which she is currently doing. Yay! Thanks for entering me!

Jenna said...

Oh, I'd love this for my 11-month-old! She has the starter book, but not the DVDs and flashcards.

One skill from that page: 10-12-month olds are beginning to comprehend functional use of some objects.

It's funny how two children can be so different. My 5yo was saying full and complete sentences by the time she was 22 months. She had a huge vocabulary. She is now reading at a 2nd grade level.
However, my youngest who will be 2 next month is just starting to put two word phrases together. Needless to say, she is the one that is needing a boost.

My son is 23 months old and according to the chart, should be undergoing a significant incline in his language skills. This is definitely true in our case as our son repeats EVERYTHING that we say and learns so much right now. I'd love to see what more this product could do for him.

I have sampled the first video in this set and I highly recommend it! I have wanted to purchase the entire set but haven't been able to. My 4, 3, and 9 month old sons would all benefit from this collection!
Sam showed a 7 to 9 month milestone not long ago.
A few weeks ago my 4 year old broke his leg sledding. He was crying and it was the first time I noticed Sam, my 9 month old, show distress when somebody else was upset. He stuck his little bottom lip out and it was completely adorable.
Thanks for offering such an awesome giveaway!

When I first heard about teaching babies (starting under 1!) to read, I thought it was crazy, but my little guy *loves* learning words, saying words, and reading books with me. He is 12 months old and has already said over 50 words, so I decided to start teaching him to read. This series would be a great help to us. According to the development guide on their website, although there is a wide range of normal development, typically by 24 months a baby will have a vocabulary of approximately 250 words.
