2011 Valentine's Gift Guide for the Kids

IKEA Soft Toys
When a huggable, squeezable gift is something you're looking to give to the special child in your life, we've got just the suggestion!  IKEA's line of soft toys are appropriate for anyone with a soft spot for stuffies (not just kids), and our own children adored the Barnslig Ormen (snake) we tested

Wanna Give?  Buying these toys also helps a great cause, as IKEA will donate 1 Euro to UNICEF and Save the Children with each purchase to help educational efforts -- that's enough for a pencil, sharpener, eraser, color pencil and notebook!  See the complete line of cuddly gifts at the IKEA site!

Despicable Me on DVD and Blu-Ray

Looking for a movie that will leave the kids AND the parents screaming with laughter?  The new movie Despicable Me, starring the voice of Steve Carell is sure to delight, and it's playing on continuous loop at our own home.  When you buy the special-edition DVD or Blu-Ray, you'll get 3 additional Minion cartoons. (Don't know what a "minion" is? Ask your kids.)  It's almost 2 full hours of family-friendly entertainment and a great way to brighten up dreary winter days and say "I Love You" come Valentine's Day.  If you want to be the coolest parent on the block (or just feel like watching something with your kids that is actually enjoyable), this is the V-Day gift for you!

Hallmark's Classroom Valentines

If the same old Valentine's Day cards have you feeling ho-hum about the holiday, you'll really appreciate these exciting new items from Hallmark -- the Classroom Valentines!  Skip the cheesy premade cards from the dollar store, and celebrate the day in style.  These cards are completely customizable, so kids will remember your little sweetheart for years to come.

Designs include cute kittens, flowers, bugs, and licensed characters like Snoopy and Disney Princesses!  Add photos of your child to the design -- or create your own message -- and you're sure to have created a card that the kids will be talking about.  (They also cut apart easily. No envelopes required.)

Wanna Save? Get 25% off Classroom Valentines when you use promo code CLASS25 on Hallmark.com

*We received samples of some items in our gift guide.  Others we purchased ourselves. No additional compensation has been provided in exchange for being featured in our guide.  In other words, "if we don't like it, you won't find it here!"

  1. I like your post Lille. I don't decorate for Valentines Day but I'll refer my wife to your site. I was looking for reviews of Despicable Me because I screen the movies my kids watch. I saw it myself after reading your blog a and it was okay. I found it for a younger (much younger) audience and so I will let my daughter watch it. I wish Evil didn't have to seem Evil in movies but I guess there's no avoiding that. It should be on one of the premium channels on my employee DISH Network account soon. I get all of the best HD channels free and not just because I work there. It's free to anyone that qualifies including existing customers.

  2. Thanks for your comment, Byron! We found it to be appropriate for kids as young as 3, although there were some mild jokes to be aware of. Anything with a PG rating is something you should watch with your kids.
