Marcus Turns Two: Our Thomas the Tank Engine Cake

My baby is turning two this week.  He is obsessed with all things trains, and Thomas the Tank Engine is his best friend.  We knew that when Walmart offered us a chance to try out their Bakery for a custom cake, we were going to pick out a train cake.  Seeing Sheena's cake just convinced us further!

We ordered the cupcake cake from the bakery on Monday, and picked it up today (Wednesday).  It had our little guy's name on it, just like we asked, and -- of course -- the Thomas train on top.  We brought it home, and within minutes, my son was screaming to get at the cake.  He saw the toy train and decided it was his.  (Hence, the cake now has a finger hole in the bottom where we had to wrestle my son away from the cake.)

Needless to say, my son was very happy with his "Thomas Cake".  For under $20, we had a cake he felt was special and that looked good for photos.  Unfortunately, my little guy fell asleep during dinner tonight and MISSED HIS SPECIAL NIGHT!  We will be doing a Birthday Party: Part 2 tomorrow after lunch to give him a chance to eat his cake and open presents.

If you are looking for just the right cake, the Walmart Bakery will likely have something perfect for your occasion.  In addition to all the licensed cakes, like Thomas, Yo Gabba Gabba, and Chuggington, they have amazing fillings for the insides of the cakes!  Currently this includes raspberry, strawberry, Bavarian and lemon.  (I also sampled some fun flavors that haven't hit stores yet; they include Oreo and a cotton candy flavor!)

Happy Birthday Marcus... I can't believe our baby is turning into a little man...

I hope this cake is as special for you as it was for us.  (And I cherish the time we spent together today that I didn't have to spend baking; cuddling and reading books was much more meaningful for me!)
