Review of RediScan™ Infrared Thermometer with Digital Readout

My children get fevers often.  Sometimes, it's for a new tooth.  Other times, it is for a virus.  Checking their temp when they are squirrely, however, is always a problem.  We have tried different kinds of thermometers over the years (including everything from the "old fashioned" ones for the babies and those that you press on the head.)  Accuracy can be tricky when kids won't cooperate, however.  I've had to wrestle them down to get a good reading, and it's impossible when they are asleep!
We tried the RediScan Infrared Thermometer this month, and it literally takes the wiggles and the frustration out of the equation.  You simply aim the thermometer at the child's forehead, and it gets a surface reading that is amazingly accurate.  You can also use it to check the temp of objects; just be sure to change the setting to "object".

The thermometer is pretty intuitive, as well.  If there is a fever detected, a little musical tone will play, and a sad face will show up on the thermometer.  This makes it simple enough for the kids to use (although I'm usually the one taking the temps at our house.)  There are many uses for this device; we've actually used it to detect the temperature of our television when we had a hard time keeping our family room cool.  It told us that the screen reached over 109 degrees!  (We eventually got a more energy-efficient model as a result.)

The RediScan thermometer eliminates so much of taking temps that I hate.  I can quickly check any child's temp without waking them or even having them sit still for longer than a few seconds. (It even lights up in the dark so you don't have to turn on the light!) With an easy-to-use interface and no need for wondering if you read it right, it's a foolproof item that will stay in my medicine cabinet for every illness in our home.
