Join Us in Watching Peter Pan Live! December 4th, Plus a Peanut Butter Peter Pancake Recipe!

We were blown away by how fun and entertaining last's year's live performance of The Sound of Music was to watch with our kids. We were hoping that there would be another live holiday performace to air again this year -- and we were not let down!

Peter Pan Live! is being presented this year by Walmart and will be airing on Thursday, December 4 at 8/7 via your local NBC channel. It will star some of my favorite actors, including Allison Williams, Christopher Walken, Christian Borle and Minnie Driver, and my family is all set with our mini Peter Pan-themed party ideas.

What kind of things will we be doing?  Eating, for one. We love breakfast for dinner, so we decided on a cute breakfast menu with farm fresh eggs, fruit, and these adorable Peanut Butter Peter Pancakes, topped with honey!

To make them, you combine the following ingredients:
  • 1 cup Great Value pancake mix
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup chunky peanut butter
  • 5 ounces canned coconut milk (mixed well)
  • 1/2 cup water
Drop spoonfuls of batter into a medium hot skillet or frying pan (be sure it has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray if it isn't non-stick.) Flip after bubbles start to form, then cook until golden brown.

Because I am pretty bad at making uniform-looking pancakes, I've gotten pretty handy with the cookie cutter. I used star ones to cute out shapes into the pancakes, making them easier for little hands to eat and giving them a "party-perfect" look!

Our fun party will also include lots of props, provided to us by the team at NBC!  We plan on live tweeting, along with Walmart, and sharing some of our experiences on Instagram, too!

Homeschoolers and parents with curious kids will also want to look over this free set of Peter Pan lesson plans.  It discusses ways to make the TV event a learning experience.
