Easy, Organic Midnight Snacking for Baby and Toddlers

I have had it with my 16-month-old. He's going through a growth spurt, getting new teeth, and is super-duper clingy.  All this amounts to sleepless nights and lots of trips to the kitchen for a quick bite.  Since cooking anything is out of the question (I'm tired...), I reach for snacks that I know will be healthy and filling -- organic, if at all possible.

Walmart carries a complete selection of some of the best options out there, even in my small rural store.  Our favorites include:

  • Gerber Organic Fruit (pears, peaches & strawberries OR apples, purple carrots & blueberries with yogurt) in a squeeze pouch
  • Earth's Best Organic (sweet potato & beets OR Wholesome Breakfast blueberry banana with quinoa, barley, and oat) in a squeeze pouch
  • Ella's Kitchen Yum Yummy Milk & Vanilla Toddler Cookies

After a fresh diaper and a quick snack, Manny is usually ready to head back to bed, giving this tired mom hope that I might catch at least 6 hours of sleep.  Filling and healthy organic snacks have been a valuable tool in my arsenal against a cranky toddler (and mom).

You can find all the brands above, and some additional ones (in select markets) at prices that are reasonable. Keeping my cupboard stocked starting at 98cents a snack is well worth it!  Look for all these food options in the baby food section of your Walmart or order in bulk online and get free shipping on orders of  more than $50!
