Adorable Crafting Keeps Kids Busy: Squirrel King

I don't know about you, but it seems like I always have to help my kids with every step of a craft kit. They are bright kids, but the directions are usually written for adults. We tried out these cute Squirrel King kits with the kids, and I was able to set them down, walk away, and come back to some pretty adorable squirrels!

Pen shows you how small these squirrels are!
First, these kits come with everything you need, all sealed up in a cute "acorn" container. Since the projects are so detailed, they have taken the time to create all of the steps on numbered cards with photos of the directions!  Even kids who don't read well can use these!  When they are done, the cards can be used as a game.

Now, I'm not going to lie. These took time, and attention, and a little coordination, too. One of my kids ended up with a big ball of yarn in a knot, so I had to help him out. Other than that, my 12-year-old took charge and got everyone set with a cute DIY squirrel at the end of an hour. They even have accessory kits (like a gardening wheelbarrow) for the squirrels!

These are so great for developing hand-eye coordination, learning to follow directions, and patience. I was so proud of my kiddos for putting these together. I think they were proud, too!

You can find the Acorn for $19.99 and the Project Green Thumb accessory kit for $7.99 at the Squirrel King website.
