Bottersnikes & Gumbles Comes to the US - Now on Netflix!

On August 19th, Netflix unveiled their newest kids' show. It's called Bottersnikes & Gumbles, and my younger boys are fascinated by it! The show, which originally started on the Seven Network in Australia and the CBBC in the UK is here in the United States for our kids to enjoy only on Netflix!

My kids are a bit of clutterbugs, and love repurposing things from old trash. That's why the premise of this show is so appealing to them, I believe. The setting for the show is a make-believe place where junk is everywhere!

Since the characters in this series are actually based on children's books from the late 60's through the 80's, there are some very nostalgic traits to the storylines. I love that they really reinforce problem-solving, perseverance, and friendship. The 26 episodes in this series are available right now, and they feature some very adorable characters!

My kids' favorites are the Gumbles, of course. They are the fun-loving, stretchy characters who can jump high and are full of energy! They are a bit gross, eating grubs and such, but I think that's part of the appeal for my little boys.

Then, there are the Bottersnikes. These guys are a bit like the bad guys, always angry and snarling, and chewing up nails. They are also stinky and scaly and remind me a bit of a reptile! When things go wrong, they are usually to blame as a source of peril to the happy existence of the Gumbles.

The pacing for this show is a bit slower than other animated series on TV, and I quite like it that way. My boys can sit calmly and watch without getting too agitated. There is always a nice resolution to each episode, and even a lesson or two. My 6-year-old is probably the target market for this show, and he consequently was the one who has asked to watch it more than the rest! In fact, he gets quite excited to see the next episode!

You can check out this new Netflix series right now with your children! Which Gumble do you think your kids will love the most: Tink, Willi, Bounce, Happi, Merry, Float, Jolli or Toot? (My kids love Toot!)
