Beauty and the Beast: Disney Under the Stars Movie Night

I am just overwhelmed with the number of Disney movies that are coming out right now. Some are new, some are classics, but all have the kind of excitement and wonder that my kids are into right now. When my son Moses saw the preview of the live-action Beauty and the Beast last month, he just sat, drop-jawed and said "that looks awesome."

This kid doesn't get excited for much, so I knew it was fate when Disney asked us to screen the Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD combo at our house with the new outdoor movie theater we built! (You can find instructions on how to do that here.) In typical Disney fashion, they also sent us some amazing Beauty and the Beast goodies.

Or course, my favorite was the adorable Funko Pop. I don't care how beastly he is supposed to be. The Funko version makes me want to cuddle!

We also received a beautiful writing journal, water bottle, and a cute accessory set (too bad I don't have little girls, anymore!)

Now, back to our theater evening..

We had it all set up and ready to go. Screen was hung, seating was out, we had lots of goodies to eat, and even pretend movie tickets and a movie theater "feature board" that we made from black poster board in a home-made frame with Christmas lights around it. (We used chalk for the writing.)

But, the weather was not cooperating. High winds and mosquitoes made it impossible to be outdoors. Oh well, I'm sure the movie will be just as nice inside.

So, we moved our crew in, hung our outdoor movie screen in front of the TV, and used our projector in the living room. It turned out lovely. And, since Marcus was turning 7 in a few days, we made it a Birthday party, too -- complete with salted caramel cupcakes and root beer floats!

Our movie night was magical, and the kids had a great time. I would highly recommend doing what we did, and giving kids tickets to redeem for movie seating and the snacks of their choice. The little ones LOVED getting to pick from all the goodies...

Our Disney Under the Stars showing of Beauty and the Beast didn't have as many stars as clouds, but we did have a great time. Stay tuned tomorrow for our review of the movie itself, and we'll also share some fun activities to do with the kiddos!

And remember, you can order the movie NOW to watch when it releases tomorrow.

*Thanks to Disney for providing the viewing kit. Opinions are our own.
