Review of Cozy Crib Tent II

I always fear that I'll find out just how capable my youngest son has become by the sound of him hitting the floor -- after crawling out of his crib. I know that the day will come when his traditional crib will no longer contain him, and it seems I'm just waiting for it to happen.

You don't have to wait until your child is able to crawl out of his crib to consider a crib tent, however, especially when there is one on the market that does so many more things than I had imagined!

The Cozy Crib Tent II does more than just protect an infant/toddler from crawling out of the crib. And while it does keep my little guy safe with its sturdy construction and easy installation, it has features that I never knew I would need (until I saw them in action, of course!)

This is the ultimate in mommy-friendly safety products -- no tools needed, and it comes off in a jiffy! (You can even change the sheets without too much fuss.)

This is really a great idea for any parent who needs some additional peace of mind for their crib-bound infant. The cool zippered door is wide enough to get baby in and out without any fuss, and I love that my cat isn't able to "crawl" into bed with baby!

The Cozy Crib Tent II by Tots in Mind has covered all the bases. Visit their website for all their products, or get one at Amazon.com!

Review of Jazzy Toes

What's cuter than baby socks and baby shoes? How about a baby sock that looks like a shoe!

I'm that neglectful mother you see running around, toting her tot sans shoes. I am that mom that thinks shoes can be a little cumbersome to put on, and I understand that keeping them on is a whole 'nother issue. I'm that parent that feels lucky if we survive a shopping trip without losing a loafer in the store or the parking lot outside the grocery. I'd rather just go with socks, but I hate the glaring looks for bringing baby out shoeless.

Now I have a fashionable alternative with Jazzy Toes! These super-adorable, appropriate-for-any-occasion socks are a cozy alternative to traditional footwear. They feature the "look" of a shoe (or boot or sandal) and have those neat grippy textures on the bottom to prevent slipping! The high-quality sock has just the right amount of elastic to keep 'em on, but they don't constrict a chubby baby's ankles.

I couldn't believe how cute my little pumpkin looked in his! We strolled around with the Jazzy Toes on and got so many compliments! I got approving looks like you wouldn't believe, and he was wearing socks the whole time.

In sizes 0-12 months, 12-24 months, they come in both girl and boy styles. They are packaged in a cute box great for giving and are perfect for sending through the mail! Check out the cutest thing to happen to socks at Jazzy Toe's website!

Review of Scootababy

I have a confession to make... while I totally adore all the moms who practice "babywearing" and lug their little ones around in the most stylish of baby carriers, it just hasn't worked out for me in the past. I'm not sure if it is because all my babies have been tiny, and it has been easier to lug them under my arm like a football, or because I'm a little slow to figure out all the flaps, straps, and clips that many of today's carriers force you to continually adjust. (Plus I'm a little scared that my kid may come tumbling out if I forget to fasten something!)

One product has changed my view of babywearing forever. It is the Scootababy. Designed for tots over 6 months, I gave it a whole-hearted try with my tiny 1-yr-old. I was amazed to say the least.

This very simple carrier is like no other in terms of construction. It features a lightly padded, shaped seat for baby to sit in, and it doesn't take an army of helpers to get baby in and properly fastened. There is only ONE buckle (much like a seatbelt) and two adjustable straps. That's it. Nothing more. (And we love the fleece shoulder -- super comfy!)

It is comfy, simple-looking, and by far the most practical carrier I've ever tried! I carried my son all day long at a crowded Nebraska Cornhusker football game in crowds of 80,000 people with no worries. He was content to be near me, I was happy to have him safe, and my back and shoulders showed no signs of the usual wear-and-tear that some carriers have granted me in the past.Give this carrier a look at their website Scootababy.com. You won't be disappointed!

Review of Oopsi

Long car trips can be a pain (with little ones tossing their toys and bottles repeatedly on the floor.) Wouldn't it be great if you could have your infant or toddler respond to their own drop woes with one clever tug at their Oopsi?

Oopsi is a simple but fashionable car seat accessory that secures at the car seat buckle and safely attaches to any book, toy, sippy cup, or bottle! This "safety line" for favorite travel items keeps everything in reach of baby, and your attention where it belongs-- on the road!

Oopsi has the flexibility to wrap around most any toy, and works wonders securing the spine of favorite books! Velcro keeps it all in place, and they come in the most adorable of styles and colors!
We love the sage and brown polka dot.

See all the offerings that Oopsi makers have to share at their website!

Review of Buckle-Pals Seatbelt Strap Holders

Let me start off this review by saying that this is NOT a safety product. The Buckle-Pals products are designed for convenience (and they do this wonderfully), not as a gadget to be used during regular car seat use.

That being said, I think you'll find it to be a super addition to your favorite travel products! The Buckle-Pals Seatbelt Strap Holders are very simple and easy to use. Once you wrap them around the car seat back, they stay put -- ready to hold your child's safety straps until they are sitting and ready to be buckled!

Why would you use this product? Have you tried to get a squirmy toddler of infant into their car seat, only to have them sit on their own seatbelt straps? Throwing the straps out of the way just have them fall back into the seat as you're putting your little guy into the seat is so frustrating! This product handles the situation with ease....

In addition to car seats, the Buckle-Pals can be used with any child product that uses safety straps (strollers, carseats, swings, etc...) We loved how easy they are -- anyone can figure them out and install them (no hardware required) in less than a minute! There were two per package, so we had one for each car!

The Buckle-Pals Collection from Dookz is available online at their website.

Review of ShadyBaby Stroller Parasol

My babies are fair skinned (they get it from their Mamma!) so I am careful not to have them exposed to too much sunlight. Sunburn is serious business that greatly increases their chance for skin cancer in their later years.

ShadyBaby
recently introduced me to their beautiful (I mean beautiful) stroller parasols, and they are fast becoming one of my favorite stroller accessories! The trendy designs are fun (I LOVE the sock monkey print.) The parasol itself is so easy to attach to any stroller handle, and it adjusts to three different positions. There is no way my baby's going to burn! The parasol offers SPF 50 UV protection in just seconds. I love that you can clip it onto folding chairs and outdoor playpens, too!

When we were out and about with our ShadyBaby, we loved how light-weight and portable it was. It folds up easily for storage, and keeps clean, too! The creators of ShadyBaby parasols knew what they were doing after experiencing the joys of parasols in Europe. (I'm so glad they brought this fun and functional concept here.) To see all the patterns and details of the ShadyBaby parasol, please visit their website at www.myshadybaby.com!

Review of Bizzi Bibbi

Driving 50 miles to pick up my daughter from her grandma's house is never fun. Even worse is having to drag the baby along with him throwing his bottle against the back of my car seat the entire ride. We get a mile down the road, he throws his bottle, he cries, I cry. Get it?

Bizzi Bibbi has saved my road trip. This ingenious little bib fastens with velcro around the little guy's neck. It has an attached clip for the binkie, AND a removable pouch for the bottle. He can drink happily (or not). Either way, that bottle is not going on the floor ever again!

This cleverest of inventions comes in several cute and quilted styles. In addition to boy colors, girl colors, and uni colors, there are stages for little ones of different ages:

My 1st Bibbi: Holds a small bottle and pacifier

My 1st Bibbi II: Holds a large bottle and pacifier

Bye-Bye Bibbi: Holds a large bottle, pacifier, and a toy

All Grown Up Bibbi: Holds a spill-proof cup and a pacifier

The bibs are not only cute, but they have an effective waterproof liner. Baby stays dry, and you stay sane. What could be better?

Check out all the options at Bizzi Bibbi's website and online store!

Review of Symmetry Sleep System

Yesterday we told you about Dr. Plagio's effort to reduce the number cases of Plagiocephaly (flat-head) in infants. We loved testing out the Symmetry Sleep System by Basic Comfort, designed to implement the TOTS system with ease and effectiveness!

Unlike other sleep aids, this comfy but firm sleep positioner is designed to follow both the Back-to-Sleep guidelines and the TOTS system. Infants can begin using the system as soon as they are born and can continue following the guidelines until they are 6 months old. The positioner itself is made from water-resistant molded foam for lasting support, and it is covered with FlowThru fabric for 100% airflow. (This prevents overheating and re-breathing, which are linked to SIDS.)

We loved that the positioner was easy to use, and ready to go! Simply place your infant in the positioner, and insert the reminder tag (which lets you know which direction to place baby.) The next time you lay baby down to sleep, switch sides and replace the reminder tag facing the other way. By continuing the alternate the way baby sleeps, you are keeping equal pressure on baby's head, and helping to ensure symmetry of the baby's head and skull.

Included in the system is a Symmetry Caliper that can be placed at the opening of the baby's ear canal. By a quick view, you can tell if you baby's head is symmetrical. (If not, make an appointment to see your pediatrician.)

The Symmetry Sleep System is medically approved and patented, but is mom-friendly! For more information on this great product, visit Basic Comfort.

Review of Your Baby Can Read!

Do babies need to know how to read? Probably not. Would it be great to see them get a head start on phonics and language comprehension? You bet!

Your Baby Can Read! is one of the most simple, yet exciting, learning programs I've had the pleasure of trying with my young children. Used with my kids (ages 1, 2, and 4) twice a day for a few weeks, I can see the gears turning in their little heads, and a love for books and reading coming alive!

Your Baby Can Read! is a fun and simple early language development system that was created by Dr. Robert Titzer, an expert of infant development and research. His research has been published in scientific journals and his own daughter was a successful student of the program! Just look at the videos of other young children using their new skills to enjoy words and reading...

At first I was really skeptical of any program that claims to teach babies to read. What I love about this program, however, is that is has been tested time and time again. Even if your tiny tot doesn't grasp the entire concept of reading as early as some of the children on the videos, I guarantee that their awareness and fondness for books and learning will increase significantly!

Each video is to be viewed twice a day. At only 15 minutes or so in length, it is not too long for your children to lose interest. Each video is highly interactive, but not so overstimulating that it disrupts their attention skills. The kit comes with 5 videos to be viewed in progressive order over a period of several months by children ages 6 months to 5 years. Several sturdy flashcards are included to get some extra learning in!

Kids like it. I love it. What's better?

Visit Your Baby Can Read! for all the details. You'll be glad you did!

Do you want Your Baby to read? One lucky winner will be taking home a Your Baby Can Read! 5 DVD Box Set & Sliding Word Cards (valued at &79.95!) Just visit the Your Baby Can Read website, and tell us the age of the child you would use this program for AND one language development skill from the guide on this page. You have until this Sunday, the 17th at 11pm CST to enter. Full rules can be seen here.

Review of Nee-Pad Pants from Poi Wear

I used to think that crawling was the hardest thing little knees could go through. Then I witnessed my little ones trying to walk... The months between when they start to cruise around from sofa to sofa, and when they really take off, are painful ones for little guys and girls. Their first instinct is to drop down on their knees, sometimes quite abruptly, and crawl off to their destination.

Poi Wear (the makers of the adorable Hi-Chair Bib) have made a solution that is durable and adorable! Need Pad Pants and matching tops have boutique beauty with everyday comfort. Each pair of pants has a cute padded appliqué that makes for comfier crawling and falling! Designs are available in balloons, hearts, basketballs, and cars, and come in sizes 9, 12, and 18 months (the age when most babies start to walk!)

Each pair of Need Pad Pants are made from stretchy pre-shrunk denim and have an elastic waist for easy diaper changings, and they comes with a matching onesie T-shirt. (The balloon and heart designs are adorned with Swarovski crystals!)

My little guy looks so happy in his Need Pad Pants! Check out Poi Wear's website for all the designs and available sizes!

Review of BabyLegs

"Legwarmers for boys?" my husband snarkily asked me as I put the first pair of BabyLegs on my 1-year-old son. "They are not legwarmers... exactly." And they weren't.

BabyLegs are a legwarmer of sorts. They really do warm baby's legs. But they are more than that. They are adorable, functional, and oh-so-addictive. My baby's legs may never see daylight again!

Not only do BabyLegs come in so many styles, they are perfect for every baby! That means that my tinier-than-average, but perfectly healthy little guy can keep his legs warm all through the winter, even though most of his pants fall right off his skinny little waist! No need to worry about where your baby places on the growth chart; BabyLegs is for EVERY BABY!

Diaper changes are a breeze with BabyLegs. Crawling is more comfortable (especially on cold laminate floors) with BabyLegs. Outfits have a little more pizazz with BabyLegs. Life is just a little more fun... with BabyLegs!

BabyLegs comes in one size (longer styles are available) and many patterns including, flames, stripes, polka dots, and just plain cute! BabyLegs can be worn for many years, and fit up to size 10. (Small adults may enjoy them as well!)

For a complete look at the fad that isn't just a fad, visit BabyLegs at their website. You won't be able to buy just one pair!

Review of Seventh Generation Chlorine-Free Training Pants

It's that time again! Our middle son is potty training! While I have scoured the market for the best training pants, it sometimes concerns me that the most stylish pant isn't the best pant for my family or the environment.

We decided to give Seventh Generation Chlorine-Free Training Pants a try, and I'm glad that we did! The company stands apart as one of the most environmentally-conscious companies in the baby market today. Their dedication to less waste and better health has peaked my interest for a long time. Here's what we found out about their training pants:

While drab in design (a simple tree on the front / and the words "back" on the back), the pant didn't excite my little guy as much as the pant with a favorite Super Hero or cartoon character. It was brown like a paper bag, and it took a little convincing to let my son know that it wasn't "dirty." (This is from the diaper being left out of the "bleaching" process that most diapers go through.) Other than that, it was on par to the rest of the training pants we've tried. They were sturdy, stretchy, and absorbent.

They also touted benefits that other training pants DON'T have. In addition to being unbleached, they are latex and fragrance-free, which is super for my little guy with eczema.

What did I love best about the pants? The informative labeling. Along with an explanation of why the chlorine-bleaching in most diaper manufacturing processes is bad for people and the environment, it gave really useful ways to keep your diaper disposal more earth-friendly. (And they were simple, too!)

I would recommend Seventh Generation to anyone looking for a more green diaper alternative. The change was simple. And while they can be pricier than other premium diapers, there's good news:

For a very limited time, all Seventh Generation diaper products are an additional 20% off when purchasing through the Amazon Subscribe and Save program. That's 5% more than normal! With free shipping and no sales-tax, this is an amazing deal! Just sign up for delivery every 1, 2, 3, or 6 months (you can adjust size as baby grows), and get these diapers for cheaper than others. But hurry! This deal won't last long!

Review of Minky Nursing Covers by Sasha B. Designs

Nursing under a drab blanket can make you feel more frumpy than nurturing. (And how many of us have had to use a coat, towel, or burp cloth to keep it discreet while feeding our baby?) Be prepared and stylish with the Minky Nursing Cover by Sasha B. Designs!

This is luxury for the milking mama! Soft and dreamy, the Minky is beautifully crafted and fancy enough to wear to a formal event! Plush on one side, satin on the other, this cover pulls out all the stops to keep you and baby comfortable and stylish! It snaps easily around your neck to keep busy hands from pulling it off, and the roomy neckline lets you look down to check on the progress of your little eater.

I loved the color choices (sage is my favorite), and the Minky material even has patterns to choose from: curly, dots and diamond. You'll appreciate the care that goes into each one of these beautiful covers that can become a lovey blanket for baby after they've weaned.

Perfect gifts come in perfect packages, and the Minky is no exception! Each cover comes folded and wrapped in a beautiful bow, tucked into tissue paper, and placed lovingly into a stylish gift bag! Baby Showers are cake with the Minky!

Review of Poi Wear Hi-Chair Bib

I was pleased to see that my youngest had finished all of his food! Pleased until I changed his diaper -- and found that 80 percent of that fresh-prepared food had ended up in his diaper or his shoes! How frustrating it can be to have shirts, pants, and socks blemished forever by your favorite red pasta sauce!

Bibs are not all created equal. Poi Wear has proven this with their cleverly designed full Hi-Chair Bib, designed to protect little bodies and favorite outfits from the devastation of self-feeding. Sized to fit kids 6 months to 3 years, the machine-washable bibs are almost too beautiful to use! Brilliant designs and high-quality cloth make this bib one of the fanciest items my child will ever wear. Good thing that the light-weight cotton is to easy to wash, and the water repellent lining keeps the clothes underneath from getting dirty! The length of the bib, along with the split at the bottom to cover legs, measures up where other bibs fall "short!"

With 50 different patterns and colors to choose from, there is a Poi Wear Hi-Chair Bib for everyone! Plus, you'll love the gifty organza bag and personalized gift card that comes with your bib. (Can you say perfect baby shower gift?)

Review of Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Magnetic Cookie Puzzle

Puzzles are a great way to stimulate thinking and problem-solving skills from an early age. Even a one-year-old can benefit from the joy of finding out that their puzzle piece fits!

My son hasn't stopped playing with his Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Magnetic Cookie Puzzle! The pieces are large enough that I never have to worry about lost pieces or choking hazards. Each one fits perfectly into place with the help of safety magnets. My son is rewarded with a verbal praise each time he successfully places a puzzle piece!

If he just wants to hear the sounds and music, or watch the colored lights flash, he can press the large gingerbread cookie character for some silly songs! Each puzzle piece has a tactile lesson to share: Square is rough, Circle is squishy, etc. Flip the piece over for a lesson in colors!

The puzzle features three switch settings: off, music, and shapes. And the safe magnet pieces (all four) stick to the fridge! This is a fun way to learn!

The puzzle is available at Fisher-Price's online store and Amazon.com!

Review of Pampers Stages and Wipes

The always-clever Pampers is back at it with a new level of functionality and personality with their line of Stages Diapers and various Wipes. As if the diapers weren't great enough with their leak-proof comfort and adorable designs (who could resist an Elmo playing peek-a-boo under your little ones belly?) -- they have done it again with a coordinating wipe to match each stage of your baby's life.

Gone are the one-size fits all wipe. Here to stay are the Swipers wipes with their 20% thicker material and super-smelling scents. Since it is a guarantee that your little inductee into the solid food realm will be leaving some nasty in their diapers, isn't it great to know that these wipes worked wonders at cleaning it all up? I tested them out with great welcome, and can totally agree that thicker is better.
And for bigger babes learning to potty-train, I'm still a sucker for their Easy-Ups Training Pants. Go Diego, Go! My son was happy to see a favorite friend on his "big boy" pants as we tested out the easy-to-take-on-and-off (and surprisingly absorbent) diaper pant. Not to be outmatched by other kid wipes, the coordinating Clean N' Go Wipes definitely delivered. Packaged in those convenient take-along soft packages, these wipes had a plastic opening that closed tightly shut to prevent unexpected dampness in my diaper bag. (So much better than those taped-on closers...) They are made with water, so they are perfect for wiping faces and noses, as well as backsides.

These are just two of the stages offered by Pampers. To see a complete listing of diapers and wipes, visit Pampers Stages pages!

Review of WubbaNub Pacifier

My baby was never really a pacifier kind of guy. He preferred "mama" any chance he could get, if you know what I mean. But once in a while, he would take a pacifier as a nice alternative to pinching and nipping at me when he got a little squirrelly. And for that I'm thankful.

WubbaNub developed a unique pacifier that makes it a little more convincing for my little guy to get on board with the pacifier. An adorable mini-stuffed animal attached to a Latex-Free Medical Grade Silicone Pacifier, the WubbaNub combines the comfort of sucking with a snuggly friend for baby! There are six different pals to choose from (Cat, Frog, Blue Horse, Pink Horse, Duck, and Dog.) All are soft, lovable, and great for developing hand-eye coordination. My little guy loves cuddling his little Frog pal while toying with the idea of taking that pacifier. It's a friend and a ----- (fill in the blank with "binky, boppy, nuk, binker, plug, dummy" or any other choice term.)

Why bother with pacifier clips or cords that can cause a hazard to baby? Why not give your little one a way to keep their pacifier close at hand on their own? WubbaNubs are easy for baby to hold on to, keeping their pacifier where they can get to it at night or on the go!

Wubbanub is affordably-priced and available at quality infant retailers and online at these fine locations!

Review of Itzbeen Baby Care Timer

Raise your hand if you remember the last time you fed, changed, or put your newborn to sleep... (if you really have a newborn, I don't expect to see too many hands raised.) The sad reality of parenthood is that once the baby is born, your mind seems to take a vacation. Between the middle of the night trips to take care of baby, the hormones, and the flurry of new tasks that are suddenly introduced into the life of a new mother, it can be easy to forget when you last did what.

The Itzbeen Baby Care Timer is the perfect solution. As simple as a stopwatch, but with all the gizmos to make it really cool, the Itzbeen can track how long "itzbeen" since you did all the important things with your baby. One touch of each of the four buttons can set the clock for feeding, diapers, naps, and a wildcard of your choice: medicine, thermometer, or maybe just a lullaby?

Can't see in the dark nursery? Itzbeen has you covered with a handy backlit display, and get this -- a soft but effective night light! You won't lose your Itzbeen because it clips easily to your belt or purse straps (don't you wish you could do that with the TV remote?) And for those ultra-modern nursing moms who gave up their grandmother's safety pin technique, there is a "right/left" indicator you can slide back and forth to show which side to nurse on next!

Maybe you think you have it all covered, and don't need a gadget to tell you how (or when) to parent. The Itzbeen can come in handy for babysitters, grandparents, or even daycare providers who might need a little extra reminder of the important things in life.

The Itzbeen isn't just for babies, however. It is perfect for caring for both special needs children and adults. And long after your children are out of diapers, the Itzbeen can be used to remember to take medicine or even to time how long they've been sitting in front of the TV! Just set the timer... it's easy.

I love this gadget (and I'm not really a gadget person.) For more info, visit the Itzbeen website. You'll be glad you did.

Available at major retailers and online at Amazon for under $25.
