'Tis mosquito season at our hot and humid farm. Working in the garden, playing in the yard, or simply watching a bit of TV (yes, I get to once in awhile) brings about opportunities for the icky skeeters to harass my family and leave those nasty, itchy welts all over our bodies.
As if the irritation wasn't enough, reports of West Nile Virus have us more than concerned for the safety of our family. Is there any option for protection that isn't as oily or stinky as conventional bug sprays?

With all the drinks on the market, is it any surprise that there is now one designed specifically for Moms and Moms-to-be? What would that "perfect" drink contain? Probably the same thing that our tested product, Glow Mama, has in it!

Review of Kashi's Vive Probiotic Digestive Wellness Cereal

Looking at the contents of my first box of Kashi Vive, I was a little scared. I'll admit that "healthy" doesn't get me too excited on most days. The cereal itself looked very, very healthy. There were flakes, "sticks," and some tiny white round things. But I had to try them... I'm glad that I did!
The Toasted Graham and Vanilla variety of Vive was very different from anything I've tried before (including previous varieties of Kashi cereal.) A very crunchy texture and a healthy, wheaty flavor compared nicely with the subtly sweet taste of the little white things (which I found out were vanilla-dipped rice crisps -YUM!) Totally packed with fiber, the cereal filled me up after just one serving. I could see this helping my meal plan.
While there are way too many good things going on with this cereal to name them all, here are a few healthy highlights:
- Helpful bacteria Lactobacillus casei (the kind found in yogurt)
- A hint of ginger for assisting in digestion
- 20% of your daily calcium and vitamin D needs
- Concentrated broccoli extract (the same amount as a 1/2 cup of steamed broccoli) to stimulate the liver's cleansing activity
- 46% of your daily fiber needs!

Ouch! It happens all the time: You touch a burner, reach into the oven wrong, or make a mistake at the BBQ grill. While burns can be a bummer, you don't have to suffer too long with them.
We had the chance to try out WaterJel's Burn Jel Plus, a very "cool" alternative to traditional burn remedies. This fast-acting burn care gel is very effective, and can be used for burns, scalds, and sunburns (boy, do we need this!) While I love to look good on the outside, if I'm feeling yucky, everyone can tell. I love to kick up my lifestyle with some tasty products that actually help me to feel better. One of my favorites (that I've been using for years), is Emergen-C powdered drink with C vitamins. I need a good face wash that will get me through my tough days, and preferably one that is both tough on dirt, but easy on my sensitive skin. It is also desirable to have one that supports my concerns about using renewable energy during production.

I'm a foodie, through and through.... BUT I wince at the words "Wholesome" and "Natural" when it comes to my desserts. I admit that I often eat what tastes good in lieu of what is good for me. Review of Listerine Smart Rinse

I'm not usually a fan of mouthwash, it can burn or taste horrible. When I do find one that tastes great, it usually isn't that effective against bad breath or tooth problems.
Listerine Smart Rinse addresses both problems very well. It tastes great (like a fresh spearmint), but isn't too strong. It is designed to be used after brushing, and it indicates how much yuck was remaining in your mouth by tinting it a funky green in your bathroom sink. (yuck) This unique feature aside, it really works! By killing bad breath germs, protecting against plaque, and giving your teeth a dose of fluoride, it is a safe bet in the war against tooth decay!

My babies are fair skinned (they get it from their Mamma!) so I am careful not to have them exposed to too much sunlight. Sunburn is serious business that greatly increases their chance for skin cancer in their later years.

Yesterday we told you about Dr. Plagio's effort to reduce the number cases of Plagiocephaly (flat-head) in infants. We loved testing out the Symmetry Sleep System by Basic Comfort, designed to implement the TOTS system with ease and effectiveness!
Unlike other sleep aids, this comfy but firm sleep positioner is designed to follow both the Back-to-Sleep guidelines and the TOTS system. Infants can begin using the system as soon as they are born and can continue following the guidelines until they are 6 months old. As someone who hates to brush, and hates to floss even more, I can understand why an electric toothbrush could make you a little squeamish. I know better than to put my hands all over a public restroom, especially if it is not very well-kept. Does your toddler know? While it is tempting to just scream, "Don't touch that! Wash your hands! Ick, what is that?" every time you encounter a nasty potty with your child in tow -- there is a better way!

They had no problem "doing their duty" with the gLovies on, and as an added safeguard, were able to throw away the gLovies and wash up easily.
Pediatrician recommended, this product has many uses beyond the public restroom. Any situation where germy hands would be an issue is a perfect one for gLovies! (I especially love the suggestion of putting them on "big" brothers and sisters when handling a newborn baby!)
