Walmart Food Drive Through Nov. 22nd!

11:52 PM

I love the idea of donating food to charity, but to be honest, it's a hassle to go to the store, bring it home, and then box it up for the charity before making a drive there, too.  Walmart has made it SUPER easy for families to share a bit of their blessings this year by offering an in-store donation option for non-perishable food items.

Just to show you how easy it really is, I loaded up my cranky 5-month-old and hit our local Walmart to purchase peanut butter, jelly, pasta and sauce for needy families.  I am still suffering from a nasty cold, so I'm not at my peak, but the entire process was painless, and the food will go to a great cause.  All in all, we purchased 10 large peanut butters, 10 squeezable jellies, 5 large pasta sauces, and 5 two-lb boxes of pasta -- for $50.10!

The event is going on until the 22nd of November, and only non-perishables will be accepted.  (If you donate expensive items or a large amount of food, it might help to see the manager.  They can help you with your haul.)  The most needed items are:

  • Canned tuna
  • Canned chicken
  • Canned beans (baked, garbanzo, kidney, etc.)
  • Canned nuts
  • Canned/boxed soup/stew
  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned fruits in lite syrup
  • 100% juice boxes & cans
  • Canned milk
  • Evaporated milk
  • Canned sauce & noodles
  • Peanut butter & jam
  • Mayo
