I Tried a Blueberry (and I Liked It!)

I'm not afraid to try new things.

I travel quite a bit, eat different foods, and even do the meet up with the occasional acquaintance that I know I'll have little in common with.  I really do try to have an open mind about things.  When it came to blueberries, however, I wasn't compromising.  I didn't like them -- or at least I thought I didn't.

Don't get me wrong.  I love blueberry muffins, can stomach the rare blueberry cereal, and have eaten one or two blueberry candies in my lifetime.  The actual blueberry, however, wasn't going anywhere near my stomach.  I'm not even sure that I had eaten a blueberry before, (a raw one, anyway), but they did not appear yummy, at all.

Then last week we purchased a carton of blueberries from our local grocer, and my kids had been devouring them at lunch.  They seemed to be beckoning to me -- even after 32 years of not feeling any love for them.  I put one in my mouth.

I liked it!

And so began my "like" for the blueberry.  I don't love them.  I won't be adding them to my cereal, or munching them straight from the container.  I also won't be picking them from the fruit salad and saving them for my husband, however.  This, I'm pretty proud of.

Have you tried something new recently?  Did the outcome surprise you?
