Walmart Helps Make Backpacks for Charity Affordable!

As a Walmart Mom, I have been asked to buy some school supplies, share some of the deals going on for Back to School, and to consider donating a packpack full of supplies to charity!  I loved the idea of this, so we decided to visit our local Walmart and do just that!

We grabbed a backpack and loaded it with supplies.  It cost less than $20 to do so, and some kid's school year will be much less financially stressful as a result.  Here is what we purchased:
  • One Spongebob 3D backpack ($10)
  • Elmer's glue and gluesticks ($.40 each)
  • Erasers ($.97)
  • 24 Yellow #2 pencils ($.97)
  • Safety scissors ($1.47)
  • 5 notebooks ($.20 each)
  • Pencil Sharpener ($.97)
  • 24-pack crayons ($.40 for Crayola and $.20 for other brand)
  • Color pencils ($.97)
We also grabbed the same supplies for our own kids!  It is possible to get supplies for two kids (one for you and one for charity) for well under $40!

Have you purchased a backpack for charity?  If so, you'll want to link up over at Liz's "Backpacks for Charity" post and include the badge on your blog.  Your actions can inspire others to help, too! (Be sure to check out all of Walmart's back to school deals via your local circular or the sale ad at Walmart.com.)
