Walmart Helps Us Host Affordable Holiday Parties This Season!

If there is one thing I can't do without during the holidays, it's a wide selection of tasty treats!  To help me out with choosing just the right items for my budget-focused menu, Walmart has put together a guide to entertaining for less, full of serving ideas to keep your guests happy and full.  I picked out a few items from the guide to share with my own family; here are our favorites!

T.G.I. Friday's Potato Skins

These delicious potatoes can be served as an appetizer or a side; everyone in my family loved these, especially the kids who adore cheese.  There is quite a bit of bacon on each potato, and while substantial in size, expect your guests to each eat two for an appetizer or three for a side.  (Try serving these with sour cream or ranch dressing!)  T.G.I. Friday's appetizers often have coupons in the Sunday paper, so look for them to drop your price per guest even lower!

Nancy's Petite Quiche

Quiche is an appetizer I look forward to at every party, especially the ones with ham in them.  Nancy's Petite Quiche boxes come with two varieties of quiche - both equally delicious.  I cooked these up from frozen in less than 10 minutes!  The crusts are nice and golden brown when done, and the egg portion is very moist and seasoned perfectly.  (I could easily eat a dozen of these, so be sure to make plenty!)

Delimex Beef Taquitos

If Tex-Mex is more your thing, the Beef Taquitos from Delimex will really go over well at your next party.  A simple beef mixture is wrapped in a corn tortilla, making them the perfect foundation for a fancier appetizer.  Serve them with salsa, guacamole, lettuce, and sour cream.  My kids devoured them plain!

Harvest Apple Pie

I'm a HUGE fan of apple pies (especially warm ones with vanilla ice cream!)  This pie has a flaky lattice crust and something special inside: cranberries!  Just a subtle extra kick from the cranberries makes this pie more exciting than your typical apple.  It's also almost as affordable as making your own from scratch (especially with the price of apples being so high), and I can warm it up and serve within 20 minutes!

All of these items should be available at your local Walmart.  (Mine is a smaller store and they carried everything I tried.)  Remember, Walmart's Low Price Guarantee means that if your holiday party treats go on sale via an advertisement at a competing store, Walmart will honor the price!  (You can also use coupons to make the price even better!) Be sure to look for the Walmart Entertaining Guide, pictured below, filled with food suggestions, recipes, and tips to create a memorable event.

What fun foods will you serve at your next holiday gathering?
