We all know that packing a lunch can save money... but were you aware of how much? Packing a healthy lunch daily (instead of dining out) can save the average family of four up to $3,500 per year!*
Healthy Ones is a leading brand from Armour-Eckrich Meats, and the offerings come in so many flavors! We think the Roast Beef, Smoked Turkey Breast, and Mesquite Turkey Breast sound the best, but there are over 10 unique flavors to choose from.
Kathy Kaehler, celebrity trainer and former NBC TODAY Show fitness correspondent, is a mom of 3 pre-teen boys, and also shares ways to save time and calories by using the low-fat, American Heart Association-certified lunchmeat line from Healthy Ones. Do you think your family could get healthier and save money, too?
If so, please leave your comments here on this post, telling us your thoughts. We'll pick a winner to get a Healthy Ones Prize pack, with coupons for free lunchmeat and a convenient insulated and eco-friendly BuiltNY lunch bag. The prize is valued at a total of $30! You have until next Thursday, April 16th at 10pm CST to get your entries in. Giveaway is subject to complete site rules. (Be sure to give us a way to reach you if you win, and remember that we will never use your email or contact info for anything other than to send your prize.) Good luck!

Wow, had no idea I could save that much money
ReplyDeleteluckydolls123[at]verizon[dot]net
I believe it! When I was in school I was spending $5/day on junk from the vending machines.
ReplyDeletethefatesarevicious at yahoo dot com
yes i know we all could get healthier- just have to get the alternatives and sometimes convenience food or the fattier food is half the cost in the store- just have to mind associate it with health
ReplyDeleteWe eat a lot of lunch meat so this would come in handy.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we could be any healthier (none of the five of us ever get sick), but we could certainly save some money. We eat quite a bit of lunch meat around here, and I am always wanting to try something new.

If I am willing to spend more time shopping around for good deals on local produce and willing to spend the time learning new recipes and cooking - I can DEFINITELY save money as well as feed my family amazing and healthy meals!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway :)
hurdler4eva(at)gmail(dot)com
I love packing my lunch because it's cheaper and you know what you're getting nutrition-wise. I haven't tried this brand yet so I'll have to do that soon. Thanks for sharing! utgal2004[at]yahoo[dot]com
ReplyDeleteI already use Healthy Ones Lunch meat for sandwiches. I save even more by buying it on sale and freezing it when it goes on sale. As a matter of fact my whole family also enjoys their kielbasa; I just defrosted some for dinner tonight.
ReplyDeleteWe could get healthier and save money by eating more Healthy Ones lunch meat :) *Thanks* for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteblog[at]theluckyladybug[dot]org

ReplyDeleteacptuser(at)hotmail(dot)com
DIDNT KNOW IT COST THAT MUCH, WHEN I WAS IN SCHOOL IN THE LATE FORTIES THUR THE MIDDLE SIXTIES I WAS IN SCHOOL NYC THEY HAD FREE SCHOOL LUNCH,,,WOW THOSE DAYS ARE GONE
ReplyDeletesnowyatnite@yahoo.com
i love to save money, and eat healthy. it is hard to do. when u grocery shop and to eat healthy it cost a ton. but to get a mcdonalds hamburger its like .99 cents.
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely possible to eat healthier & save money. Snack/junk foods are getting more & more pricey. It's better to stick with buying a bag of apples & having one as a snack daily instead of a bag of potato chips that cost $2 at Subway!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried Healthy Ones lunch meats yet, but now I think I should.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny before the recession everyone at work would chide me for 'brown bagging it' every day. The same ones would also say 'gee what smells so good' when I'd bring my lunch from the microwave to my desk! Now we are in a recession and everyone is scrambling for new ideas to save money. Some folks act like they discovered 'brown bagging' all by themselves, LOL I've been doing it for YEARS. You also don't get sick as often because you are eating food that you know is prepared well unlike many fast food restaurants where you see someone cough into their hand and then prepare your hamburger!
ReplyDeletewe are trying to be healthier at our house...i am personally counting my calories and i don't buy ANY junk for my son or hubby!
ReplyDeleteautumn398 (at) yahoo.com
I totally agree. It is possilbe to eat heathly and save money. My family has been doing it for years.
ReplyDeleteYes, I believe so. We brown bag it now after realizing just how much lunch was costing us each day. In addition, I do believe that there are much healthier options available if you make your own lunch.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much.
My husband has started taking his lunch to work. He used to spend waya too much money each week, and did not always have a healthy meal. Thanks for this healthy giveaway.
ReplyDeletemgoss@bobgoss.com
We definitely could save money. We buy our fruits and vegetables from two local Mom & Pop produce stores; since they're three blocks from each other we can easily price check. We find their prices much lower than supermarkets.
ReplyDeleteAs far as eating healthier, we pretty much are doing that now but we are always learning about new ways.
Thanks for the contest.
I am going to take this figure 3500$ to DH , seriously, that is a huge money savings. I would love to wean him through these kind of options.thanks
ReplyDeleteherry123_us@live.com

ReplyDeleteI'm really trying to get better about packing my husband's lunch. I know he spends at least $5 every day he goes out. My kids do pack their lunch. Even at $2.50 a lunch, I can pack it much cheaper and healthier.
ReplyDeleteEating healthy is always my goal.........yes the healthy ones that is an answer to health.........but my question is how much salt does it contain, I am always afraid ot this! (Tjis is an honest question)!
ReplyDeleteGenevieve

ReplyDeleteI try to save where ever I can. Bag lunches are the way to go and I know what's in them- not like buying one out. I'd LOVE to win this.
ReplyDeletePacking a healthy lunch daily is a goal that can be made
ReplyDeleteI tried these meats and was pleasantly surprised!
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of like the "cool" thing for my boyfriend to have lunch with his co-workers everyday, picking which fast food restaurant they'll order from everyday... but those meals add up! I asked him to let me cook his lunches for a week (since he cooks our dinners) and he was amazed at how far I could make our dollar spend, after buying a big bag o'chicken from Sam's Club with a side of veggies from there as well... He was impressed, and I think it will stick. And it looks like he's up for finding other ways of eating healthier for less -- he can eat with his co-workers, but that doesn't mean he has to eat WHAT they are eating!
ReplyDeleteWe have been taking lunches for years now. It sure does make a big difference!
ReplyDeleteAll the money we save by doing our own lunches goes directly into our "travel fund" and needless to say, we travel alot!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Mexican wrap looks great.
ReplyDeleteWe could do with eating ALOT less Fast Food and Junk food and more fruits and veggies!! Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeletemogrill@comcast.net
I never really thought about it, but I spend at least $5 a day on lunch. I definately need to start brown baggin' it!

ReplyDeletejason@allworldautomotive.com
I get tired of cold sandwiches pretty quickly but even replacing one or two workday lunches per week would add up to a good savings.
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI am always on the look-out for a healthier lunchmeat and this looks great! I'd rather have this for a lunch than some of that high-calorie fast food. Please enter me into the contest ~ thanks! :)

ReplyDeleteIt does save money! My husband always takes lunch, which is either leftovers from the night before or a sandwich with some lunchmeat. I have a sandwich for lunch as well whenever I'm busy. Great giveaway.

Currently my husband and oldest daughter pack lunch every day. In the fall my 4 year old will be off to kindergarten leaving me with another lunch to pack. Its a little more work but much healthier and LESS EXPENSIVE! I wouldn't have it any other way!
ReplyDeleteSaving money is becoming very important to me in these difficult times..great ideas.
ReplyDeletemadamerkf at aol dot com
Of course I think we could be healthier, we've been trying lately but having a hard time sticking to it.
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway
I had no idea I could save that much money but I always knew it was much less expensive to pack a lunch. I have recently discovered that I am losing weight because I am packing healthier food.
ReplyDeleteWe absolutely could get healthier and save money too! Hubby and I work together and there are not really any decent places to eat. It is either fast food or too expensive for our tastes. I try to bring lunch when I can but it isn't always easy to pack something quickly. Healthy Ones could really give me a hand.
ReplyDeleteEating out has become so expensive and a lot of times you don't know the preparation that goes into the meal so it is easier to eat healthier when taking your own lunch.
ReplyDeleteWould love to try Smoked Ham Muffuletta Sandwich-And saving money is always a plus
ReplyDeletetimmiedeluca@comcast.net
