Looking for a fun way to introduce scientific principles that are fit for a fun night in with the girls? The Scientific Explorer collection of "science kits" are no more than a few mix and make kits for some common beauty products, but the easy directions and accompanying parent guides give them street cred as educational, too!
We recently tried out the Blissful Body Mist Kit with my 12-year-old daughter and her 8-year-old cousin. They were having a girls night, and I thought it would be fun to have them make their own body sprays as a project. I read the directions out loud (very simple.. anyone can do it) and then allowed them to make their own body sprays by putting just the right amount of scented oils into the pre-filled body mist water. What resulted was lots a giggles, a little bit of listening to the scientific principles behind the activity, and a lightly-scented mist all over everything in my home.
I loved that, while the kids didn't listen to all the fun facts about how smell works and what makes a solution, the resulting product was a fun LIGHTLY-scented body mist that both the girls were happy to wear. The kit makes 3 scents, so it's good for a slumber party or homeschool science class that needs a little bit of fun mixed in.
You can see all of the kits available from GiddyUp and the Scientific Explorer spa line at the GiddyUp website.
