Review of milkbite milk and granola bars

I am not much of a breakfast person, but I really love snacks that I can take with me on the go. When I first tried the MilkBite milk and granola bars from Kraft, I was at the Kraft blogger conference.  To be honest, at the time I was completely stuffed and probably didn’t give them the attention they deserved. I was delighted to be able to sample them again just last week in my own home, and include my family in the tasting.

These bars are unlike any other on the market. They deliver as much calcium as an 8 ounce glass of milk (which is 30% of the daily recommended value.)  As a result, they must be stored in the fridge.  They also contain 5 g of protein, 7 g of whole grains, and a significant amount of vitamin D and fiber – something we all could use a bit more of in our daily diet.  I appreciate that this product contains no high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. The biggest perk to this product, however, is the flavor; they taste surprisingly like a creamy, crunchy, chewy dessert bar, and there is never any left the day I open a new box at my house.

This product is now available at most grocers and retails for about $3.49 a box. I could see you serving this for breakfast, but provided you to keep it cool, it’s also great for tossing into a diaper bag.  Flavors include chocolate, strawberry, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, and mixed Berry; you’ll pretty much find a flavor for everyone in your family.
