Organize for the Holidays: DIY Tie or Scarf Hanger

My closets are a mess, but it's something that I want to fix before the holidays. If you have a big to-do list to finish before friends and family come to your home, too, you'll be pleased to know about a quick trick that I picked up from my friends at Better Homes and Gardens.

BHG recently presented a live webinar where they shared some fabulous tips for getting your home set for the holidays, and organizing was one of the hot topics! I loved their idea for this handy tie holder.

Start with a BHG non-slip suit hanger and a package of Better Homes and Gardens shower curtain rings. Open the rings and put them around the hanger one by one, until you have filled the hanger. Now you can simply slide the ties through and keep them hanging handily in the closet. This trick works well for belts and scarves, too!

In addition to making sure things are hanging up and taking up less space in your closet, it's also a good idea to have some cube storage for putting those odds and ends that don't stack or hang well. I bought two of these Better Homes and Gardens Collapsible Fabric Storage Cubes. They are very sturdy and look good in my closet!

You can see all of the great ideas put forth by the BHG team in the full video of the webinar below:

What organizing to-do's do you have to get done before the holiday guests come?
