Review of Baby Danced the Polka by Karen Beaumont

I was introduced to this little literary gem for young kids by my mother -- the children's librarian. Too cute, and strangely true, Baby Danced the Polka by Karen Beaumont is the tale of an infant determined to never go to sleep.

His (or her) parents are frustrated by the fact that every time they put Baby down for bed (so that they can get some much needed housework done), they find Baby out of bed dancing minutes later. The polka, boogie-woogie, and cha-cha are just a few of the clever dance moves that Baby shares with a selection of "favored" stuffed animals while he should be sleeping.

This story has an outcome that is both clever and true-to-life. It is one that parents will appreciate more than the kids. (But kids will adore the flap-book features, colorful drawings, and repetition of storyline.)

This award-winning bedtime favorite is available in hardcover from Amazon and other book retailers.
