Ok, rarely do I promote anything without having held it in my own grubby little palms, but THIS particular toy just couldn't wait. In the spirit of promoting a better business model, and in anticipation of what could be the most adorable soft toy I've seen in ages, I have to tell you about Joobles!
Made from organic cotton and eco-friendly dyes, the Joobles are 11 inches of huggable fair-trade goodness! What's fair trade, you may ask? Fair Indigo (the site behind Joobles) tells it like this:
"Quite simply, we pay fair wages to the good people who make our clothes and accessories instead of the minimum wages that dominate the clothing market today."
I'm so liking this fair trade thing!
Joobles are a home-grown endeavor by a family in Peru (a mom, a dad, and their daughter). Fair Indigo (the company that sells the Joobles) is taking part in the Fair Trade movement in their own ways, too! Read more about it at their website.
We are looking forward to reviewing our very own Jooble in the near future, but in the meantime, would you like to win one?
Just visit the Fair Indigo website, and comment on this post with your favorite Jooble (don't worry. If you win, you'll have a chance to change your mind.) We'd also like to hear your thoughts (a few words is fine) on what you think about Fair Trade. You have until next Sunday, November 30th at 5pm CST to get your entries in. Giveaway is subject to complete site rules. (Be sure to give us a way to reach you if you win, and remember that we will never use your email or contact info for anything other than to send your prize.) Good luck!
The penguin is awful cute, especially with the matching sweater and hat/mittens set!
ReplyDeleteThis giveaway couldn't have come at a better time! Not an hour ago, I was lamenting over my newly arrived Fair Indigo catalog that I just can't spare the $ for one of these adorable guys for my little guy. I love them all, but my eye keeps coming back to Jiffy the Giraffe.
ReplyDeleteI love Fair Indigo, especially the children's items, which are so sweet and safe.
Thanks for this contest!
My favorite Jooble is Mooey Cow and I think it's wonderful that more companies are beginning to engage in fair trade practices. I think most of us would rather know that the people who make our goods or grow our products are able to earn a decent income for their work.
ReplyDeleteIcey the penquin is my favorite, I think. I am a knitter, and try to buy wool from fair trade workers
ReplyDeletebarbaraeford@yahoo.com
My choice would be the monkey, I have a monkey themed nursery! I also like the cow, she has a cute name, mooey!
ReplyDeletethanks,

Calley the Cat is adorable. We try to buy fair trade items whenever possible. Empowering developing countries producers lends to their sustainability.
ReplyDeleteI love Calley the Cat. So...cute! Never been to the Fair Trade site. When I read about it, I thought it was awesome what they do. I wish everyone thought the same way!

Buzzy Bug is my favorite! I like the concept behind Fair Trade because minimum wage is a joke now--it has not kept up with inflation.
ReplyDeleteI like the icy the penguin.
ReplyDeleteThe monkey is too cute! I'm not that deep granted, but how could anyone say anything bad about free trade? Thanks for the contest.
ReplyDeletecharlottewinters@cox.net
the monkey is adorable- free trade and equal pay is very important- no one deserves to work for pennies an hour mrs.mommyyatgmaildotcom
ReplyDeletePip the dog is cute. I like fair trade because it pays a wage that helps support families.

Oh I love the Penguin stuff! My little penguin would love them too!
ReplyDeletei like Jiffy the Giraffe. i think fair trade should become a more common practice as it allows the worker to better provide for themselves and their family.
ReplyDeleteIt's all about Mooey cow. Fair trade is an essential way of doing business with a macro view of fairness and equity. It's not all about Wal-Mart.
ReplyDeleteBuzzy Bug is my pick.
ReplyDeleteGlad that fair trade is helping the poor folks that live outside of main towns where work is, to be able to support themselves.
Buzzy Bug is really adorable! Fair Trade is really important and I really hope with the economy the way it is that it doesn't suffer more than it already does.

Mel the Monkey is adorable. And fair trade is the only way to go, otherwise you are buying the goods that resulted from little more than slavery.
ReplyDeleteThe precious Calley the Cat is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI like Fair Indigo because they are helping families by giving them jobs with decent pay so they can support their families.
Thank you for the nice giveaway.

ReplyDeleteI would love Pip the Dog for my son.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose just one it would be Cally the kitty cat. As far as fair trade is concerned I am all for it and if anyone disagrees try to survive on minimum wage with no benefits for a few years and then come back and talk to me.
ReplyDeletejennielee685@gmail.com
definitely Pip...he is a cute litte puppy :)
ReplyDeleteI just love Calley the cat and how could I not?
ReplyDeleteAs for fair trade, I appreciate that businesses are finally willing to step up and take a stand and only purchase from fair trade suppliers. Without people who are willing to do this, we'll never change.

My daughter was born in a third-world country, and fair trade is desperately important. These families cannot survive on what US corporations pay them.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is Mooey Cow.

All are adorable, but I like the colors and patterns in Buzzy Bug the best.
ReplyDeleteIt's time for the world to change from a few people living in luxury and the majority of the world in poverty. Fair Trade is helping to move us in that direction.
I like Jiffy the Giraffe (I like the all!). I appreciate Fair Trade for exactly what the name says - a fair days work for a fair days pay. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI like Icy the Penguin. I guess I never really understood the concept of fair trade before. I did not realize that it was helping individuals versus corporations. I think that way it is a good thing
