We've never been lucky enough to have a dedicated baby nursery in any of the homes we've lived in. Even after 4 kids, we have still found a way, however, to make their special corner of the world even more special (whether it's the corner of our bedroom or a corner of the living room!)
The new Q-tips Baby Packs we recently sampled were a touching way to keep essential products on hand when you need them, but they were charmingly decorated to make the changing table or play area look like they were made for baby! Just check out how cute these are:

We love keeping things simple!

I always decorated the nursery in yellow and light greens.
ReplyDeleteI like to decorate with the classics like Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit.

I was making curtains for my son's room before he was born. When I hung them up one window was about 3 inches too short. Luckily I had a friend who knew how to put ruffles on the curtains!
ReplyDeleteI like pink and brown polka dots and stripes. Thanks for the chance.

I love the idea of mixing colors up and themes. I like to be different so doing something no ones else really does is great to me.
ReplyDeletechanging table bone colored crib rocking and feeding chair and colorful window dressings

I think a Chocolate brown nursery would be gorgeous!

The Crane Adorable Animals Humidifiers would be a cute and useful addition for a nursery

My decorating tip is Buy baskets lots of baskets they are great for storing things like baby powders, destine. But the best thing is you can move them from room to room where you need it. And as baby grows you can always use them somewhere else in the house.

A decorating tip, make sure the changing table is just the right height for you. This will save you from having to bend over all the time!

I try to keep it minimalistic, not too much stuff which can be distracting to baby. leenburke@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteUse pastel colors for painting the walls and don't clutter the room with alot of furniture and things.

Our theme was turtles/beach theme. I did the top 1/2 of the room in a light blue and the bottom half in sage green w/a nice border in the middle. Jenprincess88 at aol dot com

When decorating a nursery I would keep in mind that babies focus more easily on high contrast colors. Especially black and white. This doesn't mean that everything should be black and white. Just add some touches for baby to focus on instead of entirely pastels.
ReplyDeleteMy tip- don't make it too babyish, rather use things they can grow with, or easily changable like borders.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of using different shades of the classic blues and pinks. It makes it look more modern.

I try and find an inspirational piece (such as a piece of art, an heirloom furniture) and use that to set the theme

Remember not to decorate TOO babyish. You don't want to have to redo everything in a year or two. So use accessories for that "baby" touch. Thanks so much! pamelashockley(AT)netscape(DOT)net
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway...Our nursery was painted in bright colors with the alphabet & numerals on the walls; the coolist item of the whole room was a handmade mobile that rotated using a battery powered motor.

We had family and friends come over to decorate with pictures and paint the walls, quicker and fun
ReplyDeleteI would use a unicorn theme to decorate with.

I can't wait to decorate with airplanes since we're having a boy this time!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great contest!

Ensure that you have a nice rug in the nursery that is baby-friendly, meaning soft enough on the legs and knees not to hurt baby, but low nap in case baby's face ends up on the rug (a common occurence when they are learning to crawl). The space where the rug is evolves as they get older into a nifty play space. We have one with cars and street signs, so it's colorful too, which fascinates baby.
ReplyDeletemsurosey@yahoo.com
my favorite nursery theme is clowns and balloons decals bedding it is just so cheerful :)
ReplyDeleteI definitely like to decorate with a 'theme' that can grow with the child.
ReplyDeleteKeep the room simple. Alot of knick knacks will cause clutter when u need space for all the diapers, clothes and toys the baby will need.
ReplyDeleteI always found that if I put a few safe things in the crib that entertain quietly, I could get a few more minutes of sleep. A little musical fish aquarium toy (set to quiet), some black and white cloth shape pictures, etc. It's great to hear little baby gurgles and 'aaaahhh's' before you walk in.
ReplyDeletetip- cover your baby wipes and diaper cartons, lotion bottles, etc with co-ordinating pee and stick in a pattern of your choice to match your nursery.

Contrast is good for interest, as the baby eyesight develops.
