I didn't think I would like Raising Hope before I watched my first episode. After 15 minutes of seeing what reminded me of a rather messed-up (yet comical in retrospect) childhood, however, I was hooked. Anyone who has ever ridden in a car with a hole in the floor during the 80's can relate to what I"m talking about.
Raising Hope is a cheeky look at how an unplanned pregnancy can turn out to be a blessing. Just think Juno, but with the story being about the Dad, his parents, and his delusional grandma. (Oh, and they keep the baby.) I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this show, but if you like some edgy humor that's not gross-out, you'll probably like this smart show. It says all the things we may have thought or done at some point, but quickly would like to forget -- AND it's coming out on DVD September 20th!
With an all-star, Emmy-nominated cast that puts personality in every character (and includes Lucas Neff, Martha Plimpton, Garret Dillahunt and Shannon Woodward. Cloris Leachman), we can't wait until the next season starts soon!
