Weight Watchers has Ice Cream (and it is good!)

I did Weight Watchers for about 3 months after my son was born; I was having difficulties getting that last 10 pounds off.  Well, it worked, and even though I am no longer on the program, I am still concious of what I eat -- especially sweet treats!

The newest Weight Watchers treats are a super example of a tasty treat that you can fit into your daily dietary budget.  The treats range from 2-4 points and actually taste good.  Here are our thoughts:

  • Weight Watchers Snack Size Ice Cream Sandwiches - These rock!  Tiny and tasty, they come in two flavors of ice cream for the middle (vanilla bean and dutch chocolate).  I love both flavors, and they are only 2 points each (or 80 calories, if that's how you roll.)
  • Weight Watchers Dark Chocolate DulcĂ© de LechĂ© Dessert Bars - These are the most indulgent of the treats we tried.  The chocolate coating tastes so creamy and rich, and the caramel infused throughout the bar is smooth and sweet!  The only thing I didn't like about this bar (which has just 3 points per bar) is that you can really taste the wooden stick.  I had to eat around it, because any of the ice cream that touched the stick seemed to have a weird bitter aftertaste.
  • Weight Watchers Strawberry Fruit Bar - This is your regular, run-of-the-mill fruit bar, but the chunks of berry were pretty large.  It seemed more substantial than competing bars, and each had just 2 points!
  • Weight Watchers Strawberry Smoothie Bar - Yes, I had to share with my kids, and this was their favorite.  The bars are slimmer than the rest, but they are essentially a super-sweet creamy yogurt smoothie frozen onto a stick.  They are sooooo good, and at 2 points each, it was tempting to eat two at a time.
Do you do Weight Watchers?  If not, you may still be looking for a highly sensible and delicious frozen treat to reward you for a better eating plan.  These should do nicely, and you can find out more about all the varieties at the official Weight Watchers website.
