Our Homeschool Helps Fight Hunger

We've been working alongside ConAgra Foods and The Child Hunger Ends Here campaign to get schools in our area signed up for Schools Fight Hunger.  (We even gave away some prizes!)  Now it was time for our own school to get involved, and just because we homeschool didn't mean we couldn't join the fight!

We got our homeschool athletics organization The Omaha Lightning to sign up for the Schools Fight Hunger website, and we've been talking with parents from the group about the need for food donations for our local food pantry.  We even collected UPC's from ConAgra foods during the annual Volleyball banquet to jump-start the efforts!  Several of the parents are still collecting UPC's to send in before the campaign is over!

My children have also been helping by telling their friends and family about our need for UPC's, as well as putting the "sharing" portion of their allowance in a Blessing Bank that we will give to the local Food Bank!

For those of you who are just joining us, ConAgra will be donating money for each ConAgra foods UPC we collect.  You can do the same with your school, too!  Just sign up at Schools Fight Hunger to find your school and see how you can help.  (If you don't see your school or organization on the list, leave me a comment.  I can help get you added!)

How has your school been instrumental in ending food insecurity in the U.S.?  We would love to hear about it!
