Who uses the iPad2 more than I do at the Knerl house? My kids, of course! We were happy to try out The Wiggles Alphabet Adventure app and share the details with you....(and don't forget to see one of our first roundups of family-friendly apps the kids will also adore)...
My youngest boys are just rediscovering The Wiggles after a short hiatus of watching the show in our home. This app really got my attention, because it features 26 individual activities to do, featuring a different letter of the alphabet. Using characters kids know from the show, as well as very imaginative use of the iPad functionality, kids can take bites from an apple, cook up some stir fry, drive a car, look through a magnifying glass, and many more activities.
At first, I was a bit disappointed that the amazing sound effects (like the sizzling fry pan) didn't also include a pronunciation of the letter and it's phonetic sound; later upgrades to the app, however, gave me exactly what I wanted in a potentially awesome teaching tool. This app, which is perfect for kids old enough to use the touchscreen, is a great buy at just $2.99.
