Part Two of Our Udi's Review: Muffin Tops and Cookies

We were taken aback by the high quality and good flavor of Udi's when we first tried their products in January.  We continued on our discovery of answering the question of "can gluten-free taste good?" with a new batch of products to try from the company.   Here are our findings:

Gluten-Free Muffin Tops

I was excited to try these, as I love a competing company's muffin tops, and I love healthy snacks for breakfast.  To be honest, these were exactly what I thought they would taste like -- no hint of "gluten-free" about them!  One thing you need to be aware of, however, is that these need to be stored in the freezer until ready to thaw and eat.  (This is indicated on the package -- which we failed to read).  When we received these in the mail, we mistakenly left them out on the counter, and they got moldy within days.  (Whoops!)  I guess this is a true indication of how fresh the ingredients are, as well as the lack of artificial preservatives in the product.

There are two flavors to choose from Blueberry Oat and Chocolate Chia.  Both have a kind of vitamin aftertaste that is common for a muffin top product.  (These contain a LOT of Vitamin B6, B12, C, E, D, and Zinc.)  They are very soft and go great with a cup of coffee.

Snickerdoodle Cookies

I can't say anything negative about this delicious, chewy, and cinnamon-drenched snack.  They have a wonderful melt-in-your mouth quality that doesn't seem very "gluten-free" to me.  I adore these tiny treats and have vowed to keep my cupboard stocked with them.  Yum!

Dark Chocolate Brownie Bites

I don't dig dark chocolate, so these were hard to eat.  My hubby thought they were OK, but said they tasted a bit funky - like something was missing.  The kids ate them because they were chocolate, but I really couldn't get over the very dense texture.  I like my brownies a bit more fluffy.  If you are in need of a chocolate fix and can't do gluten, however, I imagine this could do the trick (and their size would invite you to have more than one.)  These were my least favorite of the products we sampled.
