I am always planning my kids' birthdays as a very last minute endeavor. My normal routine includes me racing to the store to snag matching napkins, plates, and party favors. We were able to try out the products from Discount Party Supplies for my now 5-year-old's party earlier this year, however, and I have to admit that the process is so much less hassle than I'm used to.
First, we picked a theme; for us it was Dinosaur Train. Then, we selected the "Standard Party Pack", which had all the things you needed for 8 people. (You can order additional items for a larger party size.) We also snagged some recommended party favors with a dinosaur theme. (The site makes it easy to pick items that go well with your theme. There are pinatas, toys, games, and gifts -- all reasonably priced to fill the goodie bags. Items start at $1, and the pinatas were actually cheaper than my local discount party store.)
I was happy to get all my items in good condition and in time for the party. We had fun decorating, and my kids went crazy for the goodie bag. In fact, my son really enjoyed the Dinosaur Dig Kit, which he said was the best part of his party.
I really appreciated that you can plan your entire party -- invites all the way through until you send out the thank you cards -- at one website.
