Fruit for All Project and #Giveaway

Child hunger is one of those issues I just don't understand.  In a country such as ours, there is plenty to go around.  Finding out about the available resources to share with hungry kids and get food to those who need it is the first step to solving this completely solvable problem.

Here's more about the Fruit for All Project, just one of the active campaigns going on right now to put food on the table for hungry kids:
Juicy Juice, Feeding America and celebrity mom and anti-hunger advocate Samantha Harris are joining forces to put up to 35 million pieces of fruit in the hands of children and families in need. Why?  Over 16 million American children (more than 1 in 5) are food insecure, meaning they live at risk of hunger. In Douglas County, Nebraska -- where my food bank is located -- the food insecurity rate is 12.8%.
For food insecure children who rely on free or reduced-price lunches, the summer presents an even greater risk. In fact, 18.7 million children are at risk during the summer months. America’s battle against hunger is not about having enough food; in fact, 20 billion pounds of food go to waste each year.
So how can you help?  If you love Juicy Juice like our family does, it's easy!  Between June 1 and August 31, a piece of fruit will be provided to hungry kids and their families each time Juicy Juice is purchased. Kids and their parents can also get involved by logging on to Juicy Juice’s Facebook page or FruitForAllProject.com to complete challenges like games, quizzes and puzzles to earn even more fruit donations for those in need!

Now that this amazing project is underway, it's easy to track the progress of everyone who is participating via this tracker below:
