We grill at least 3 times a week when it's this hot. We often go without potatoes for our meals, however, because they require so much preparation to cook on the BBQ. Ore-Ida came out with a new product that was designed for the grill, and I was very excited when I saw the commercials!
We were supposed to try two varieties, but our store only carried one; we sampled the Seasoned Thick Cut Potatoes, and they were easy to prepare. We just followed the directions on the bag to take them from freezer, to grill, to table, in less than a half hour. They were big frozen chunks, which meant they didn't not fall through the grate in the grill, and we didn't have to use foil to cook them.
Unfortunately, we kind of overcooked the first bag on the grill. The picture below shows how delicious they are when you don't overdo them.
We have also cooked one bag in the oven, and they turned out very crispy, as well. The only thing I would recommend to improve the product is to add a bit more seasoning. While we went with the seasoned variety, after cooking, they still needed more salt and pepper.
You can find both the Seasoned and Golden varieties at most grocers (although they are fairly new, and selection may be limited.) Get more information on Ore-Ida's products, including the Grillers, at their website and on Facebook!
