Help Those in Need with the 12 Days of Giving Campaign!

We are getting into the holiday spirit at the Knerl House, starting with making a list of ways we can help others this season.  Between our toy drive and a few things I want to do for the soldiers, we have a pretty full plate.  There are still so many in need, however, so we are always looking for ways to help out with the small chunks of time we have here and there.

Walmart's 12 Days of Giving Campaign fits right in with our goals.  The program, which is in its 2nd year, is giving Facebook fans the opportunity to nominate worthy charities in their community to have a chance at part of 1.5 million dollars in grants!  Last year's winners are so inspiring, and I know that this year will provide just as many worthy chances for communities to get the help they so desperately need.

Here's an example of an amazing organization that received money they needed for a new van to deliver meals to the elderly:

I can just imagine how much of a relief the grant was to the people in the video.  To know that all the good work can continue for another holiday season really makes me feel happy for them!

Do you know of a charity that provides essential services to others?  Do they need help?  Nomination only takes a few minutes, and it's a way for you to really help out.  To take part, visit the Facebook page by Nov. 18th, and submit your nomination.  You can also keep up with what Walmart is doing to help in other ways via the Walmart Foundation website.

What about you?  Will you help others this holiday season?  What could your favorite charity do with $10- 20,000?
