Review of Yo Gabba Gabba! Music is Awesome: Volume 4

Yo Gabba Gabba! is one of those shows that grows on you.  It starts out being an "in-your-face" barrage of music and color, and you wonder what kids can get out of it.  If they are like my 2-year-old son, Marcus, however, they get quite a bit.

In addition to having all kinds of important discussions about not biting, waiting patiently at the table, and why naps are good for you, there are some just plain silly songs that get kids up and moving.  (And moving, my friends, can't be done enough by kids in today's world.)

Yo Gabba Gabba! Music is Awesome: Volume 4 is one of those CD's that you aren't even aware of how contagious it is (until after you've become hopelessly addicted.)  Full of tunes sung by the characters of the show, and special musical guests like Biz Markie and The Roots, it's halfway for kids and halfway for the grownups.

After setting my toddler down to listen while I blogged tonight, I found myself singing along to almost every song (and I hadn't even heard half of them before.)  It took me 6 songs into the album to learn that my son had crept away; I was singing to myself.

If you're in a mood to listen to dance music that the tiny tots can gain some wisdom from, check out this CD.  (Oh, and it's also pretty awesome for goofing off to.) Song titles include:
  • Biz Markie - Pancakes and Syrup
  • Yo Gabba Gabba! - That Is What Friends Are For
  • The Roots - We Have Fun
  • Yo Gabba Gabba! - Teamwork
  • Peter, Bjorn and John - I Wish I Was A Spy
  • CSS - Dinosaur Dinosaur
  • Yo Gabba Gabba! - Mixing Up Colors Remix
  • Rocket From The Crypt - He's A Chef
  • George Clinton - Atomic Frogs
Plus over a dozen more!  Snag it at Amazon in time for the holidays!
