Mead Early Learning Review and Giveaway!

Winter break is OVER, and we are officially back to school (homeschool, that is) with our kids.  While I have plenty of school materials for my kids (especially in the early childhood educational genre), I long for some variety, and the kids enjoy shaking things up a bit, too!

We tried out a suite of Mead Early Learning products with the goal of putting some fun, creative, and unique learning tools into our daily curriculum.  We found that there were solutions for almost every area of our Pre-K through 3rd grade learning day; some of the products kept my kids entertained for hours!

While Mead offers products in writing, reading, spelling, math, and more, here are the faves from the items we reviewed:

Folder Games

I remember using these as a student in elementary school.  They kept me busy during the times when I was done with my lessons, and they were more enjoyable than worksheets.  At the time, my teacher had to copy, cut, color, and laminate each piece of the activity folder, and they weren't very sturdy.  The versions from Mead Early Learning are almost all done for you.  The Math Basics Educational Folder Games just requires you to tear the pieces out along the perforated lines.

The Shapes Folder Games require a bit of cutting.  Both packets have 3 folder games in them, and the folders themselves are sturdy plastic.  They even have a pouch to store the pieces in - encouraging my kids to pick up after themselves when they are done!

Workbooks

I've already mentioned that we get a little tired of using workbooks; the ones we tried from Mead Early Learning were refreshing in their approach  however.  There was lots of room for kids to write (some workbooks make kids write smaller than they are comfy with), and they include reward stickers in the back!

Flashcards

These are an effective way to perform "drills" to help children memorize everything from colors to letters to math facts!  My children do very well with cards, and the sturdy, colorful tools can be perfect for in the car or around the dinner table.  Since ABC and addition facts are the most difficult for kids to grasp, using flashcards can make the learning process less stressful and more fun than worksheets.
