Our Super Duper Angry Birds Birthday Party

Since my son started playing Angry Birds, he has been a fan.  So, when he turned six this January, he begged for an Angry Birds-themed party.  I was prepared to pay a fortune for his wishes (after all, licensed character-themed party supplies can be very expensive on those party supply sites.)  I thought I would check with Walmart and see if they could make the party more affordable.  With a little creativity and shopping ahead of time, we came out with an amazing party, food, and gifts for well under $100!

We were disappointed to find out that the Angry Birds Basic Kit n' Caboodle (which had place settings and themed party wear for up to eight people) was sold out online.  We settled with some red, yellow, and blue napkins, plates, and silverware, as well as party favors, streamers, balloons and a tablecloth.  If you can find the Angry Birds themed kit at your store, this is a great buy.  Picking appropriate colors, however will work just as well.

My daughter was in charge of making the cake, so I let her pick out the cake mixes, frosting tips, and frosting that she would use to ice the cake.  She found a few designs online, and did a fantastic job decorating this one free hand.  (I was very proud to learn that she used a cherry whipped frosting tinted red for the main portion of the bird.)

To help feed any additional guests that may show up unexpectedly, we also grabbed a box of Kimberley's bake shop gourmet cupcakes.  (They were beautiful, tasty, and no one knew we didn't make them).

We found some fun party favors at our local Walmart; for $.99, we were able to purchase a pack of Star Wars Angry Birds crayons, a mini color book, and stickers.  We picked up eight for all of guests!

As far as gifts go, our child was very spoiled.  This is mainly because all of the brothers pitched in to buy several toys on clearance at our local Walmart.

My daughter picked out a fun, long-sleeved Angry Birds fitted T-shirt, as well.

We also found that the selection of greeting cards was amazing!  I couldn't find an Angry Birds card that was specific to the 6th birthday, but we did find a fun Lego Stars Wars one that he ended up loving!  (It had stickers in it!)

We had so much fun at the party!  We couldn't believe how easy it was to find themed supplies that went with what my son wanted.  I would highly recommend you stop at Walmart first before hitting any party supply stores.  (I also encourage you to decorate the table with items that can be used again, like the little plush Star Wars Angry Birds we had our table!)

What party theme would you plan for your child, if you could pick any theme?
