I had never made a cheesecake before I attempted this recipe. I was given some Green Mountain Farms Greek Cream Cheese to try as part of the Walmart Moms program, and the first thing I thought was "cheese cake!" I went to the Green Mountain Farms website, found this delicious recipe, tweaked it a bit with what I had on hand, and gave it a shot.. It turned out decadent!
Ingredients:
- Great Value brand graham cracker pie crust
- (8oz.) Greek Cream Cheese, softened
- 2 large egg yolks
- 4 large whole eggs
- 1.5 Tsp. vanilla
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 1-1/4 cup sugar
- 1.4 cup milk
Bake 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 225° F and bake 50 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool before placing into the fridge!
I do like to cook my cheesecakes until they are almost too done (see the cracks in the top -- my favorite part!)
I also like mine served with my homemade cherry-lime jelly on the side or another homemade fruit syrup!
This cheesecake has a more creamy and rich flavor than traditional cakes made with regular cream cheese, likely due to the Green Mountain Farms Greek cream cheese (which is made from Greek Yogurt!) You can also enjoy 1/2 the fat and 2X the protein than regular cream cheese! (That means two slices, if you're good!)
This yummy product comes in an 8oz Soft, 8oz. Whipped, and 8oz. Bar (priced at $2.48 at Walmart) and can be used in place of cream cheese for all of your favorite recipes. You might also like trying this on delicious sandwiches, like my Danish Cucumber Tea Sammy's, or with your morning bagel!
