I'm not one that usually eats sugar-free. I'm not diabetic, and I don't necessarily cut out sweets as a part of losing weight. I do like to find sugar-free options on the market, however, because I know of several people (including family members) who cannot consume additional sugar products. This new line of chocolates from Valor sparked my interest as one such solution for my chocolate-craving friends!
While I don't eat dark chocolate much, it was a very decadent treat. I couldn't believe the number of almonds in this bar! (See below).
I sampled milk chocolate and dark chocolate, and I couldn't taste any noticeable difference between the flavor of these bars and those that are made with sugar.
How are they sweetened, then? Stevia! This all-natural sweetener is used in many products I use today. It was great to see that it was perfected as a sweetener in one of my favorite foods: chocolate! (Note: Stevia is awesome, but you don't want to overdo it. If you don't know how Stevia will affect your digestion, you may want to start slow. Definitely don't eat more than a serving at a time.)
Sugar-free doesn't mean calorie-free. Chocolate, even that which is as fine as the Valor chocolate, should be consumed in moderation.
