Remember when I first shared how much my kids love the Skylanders Swap Force game and characters? They have been continually adding to their collection, every birthday and holiday they can. In fact, they often have just as much fun playing with the characters when the game isn't on as they do virtually!
As big builders, they had no idea that Mega Bloks came out with Skylanders Swap Force Heroes play sets. My son Matthias turned 9 on the 9th, and we gifted him two of them for his Golden Birthday. They look just like the actual figures from the game, but kids can build and rebuild them for an intense construction experience.
Some of the pieces to this kit are very, very tiny, so be sure that you keep the pieces contained safely between play sessions. (And keep the toys away from kids under age 5.) When assembled, kids can switch the top and bottom parts between characters -- just like the actual video game characters!
This is a favorite building toy of all the boys. They do quite a bit of role-playing with the assembled sets, which is one way that these "game-inspired" toys have convinced me that they are still a rather open-ended activity. Unlike some building sets, that can do just one thing, the "swapability" keeps them fresh long after the initial build.
You can learn more about them at the Mega Bloks Skylanders Official Site, Like Mega Bloks on Facebook, or Follow @MegaBloks on Twitter.
