Review of 160 LED CI-160 Dimmable Ultra High Power Panel Digital Camera Light

I've been working on taking better pictures here on the blog. It takes work. It also takes light -- something that doesn't happen much during the November through March season here in Nebraska.  When windows and foam board won't do to brighten up my photos, I need an external light of some kind.  My lightkit is great, but not very portable, so I was curious as to whether the 160 LED CI-160 Dimmable Ultra High Power Panel Digital Camera / Camcorder Video Light would work to add some light to my photos and videos when I needed light in a pinch.

The light came with a few color lenses, as shown below:

It did not come with batteries, and the plastic felt a little light, but it was sturdy.  When you put the batteries in, they are not completely covered, so you want to be sure to keep it away from moisture (don't use it in the rain!)

How did it work?  I prefer my umbrella light kit for food photography.  The light on this just wasn't quite right for that.  But for video, it was awesome!  I was able to do several scenes in a poorly-lit room for YouTube.  They turned out much better than just using my overhead room light.

With a dimmer switch to make adjusting easy, this is a handy tool to keep in the camera bag.  You can purchase it on Amazon for under $35.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
