How to Throw an Amazing Avengers-Themed Birthday Party (with Gift Ideas)

I have a very excited 4-year-old counting down the days until his birthday.  He is a complete and total Incredible Hulk fan, so the idea to have an Avengers themed party was appropriately timed.  The new Avengers: Age of Ultron film has created so much buzz, and there are so many neat products available now to make the party planning easy.

Here's what we decided to do:

We snagged an assortment of Avengers Assemble party supplies at Walmart.  American Greetings has an almost overwhelming number of options, all within our budget.  We opted for using the big party favor packs (we have 6 kids just in our family), as well as the tablecloths, plates, napkins, cups, and birthday candles.

To make the treats simple, we bought packages of mini-cupcakes from the Walmart Bakery.  These were blueberry frosting, and the blue works perfectly with the colors of the Avengers toppings.  We used both the birthday candles and the toy tops can came in the party favor pack.

We kept clean up a breeze so that we had time to play games. Marcus really enjoys simple games, including playing ball or running through the sprinkler.  We were happy to have very little to do besides toss the disposable items and put the favors away for later.  (The cups are a good quality plastic.  You can wash and reuse these; they make great summertime cups that can be used outside and you won't feel bad if they get lost or broken in the yard.)

Next came the gifts!  Getting Marcus to sleep in a big boy bed has been challenging. He seems to sneak into my side of the bed around 4 am each morning.  We thought he would love the new bedroom offerings with Avengers on them.  Just check out the detail of one of the reversible comforters ($26.88)!  One side has a more grown-up "comic" look that will ensure it's useful until he is grown up and out of the house!

Side one: for now

Side two: for when he gets older!

There are also matching sheets and pillowcases, window panels ($19.88 for 2), and these adorable and soft plush blankets and throws (starting at $14.88). Our kids have these exact sized throws in other designs, and they have been washed up dozens of times and are still soft, durable, and cozy.

Finally, since my little guy is a big Hulk fan, we knew he would be head over heels for this stuffed plush Hulk.  There are also options for a Hulk pillow buddy, if your little guy likes to cuddle.

I think Marcus will be over the moon for his new Avengers Assemble gear. In fact, I've heard that his 16-year-sister (a HUGE fan-girl) is a bit jealous.

You can find all of these items and many more with the Avengers branding at your local Walmart.  Or, do it the easy way and order online for delivery to your local store or home (free for orders over $50!)
