It's a Top of the Food Chain Trollhunters Book Giveaway

Kids love stories about creepy little trolls, and so it was only fitting that I tell you about this new young adult novel from Guillermo del Toro!  Best known for films such as Pan's Labyrinth, Helllboy, and The Hobbit, he co-wrote this thrilling tale with Daniel Kraus, award-winning and filmmaker with a penchant for horror stories. Sean Murray illustrated it with amazing pictures that bring the story to life; his experience includes Dungeons & Dragons Online and The Lord of the Rings Online, as well as The World of Gateway.

What is the book? It's Trollhunters, a coming-of-age tale where teens work to defeat a 45-year-old mystery.. one that's threatening to devour the citizens of San Bernadino.  It's a toned-down version of gory troll tales meant for adults, but has relate-able dialogue and characters that teens will have no problem devouring themselves!

"You are food. Those muscles you flex to walk, lift, and talk? They're patties of meat topped with chewy tendon. That skin you've paid so much attention to in mirrors? It's delicious to the right tongues, a casserole of succulent tissue. And those bones that give you the strength to make your way in the world? They rattle between teeth as the marrow is sucked down slobbering throats. These facts are unpleasant but useful. There are things out there, you see, that don't cower in holes to be captured by us and cooked over our fires. These things have their own ways of trapping their kills, their own fires, their own appetites."

As someone who grew up loving the tamer horror novels, I think this book may be my next exciting read.  Published by Disney-Hyperion, it's the perfect ending to the dog-days of summer.
