We love watching documentaries at our house, especially those that challenge popular beliefs and dig deeper into the rich history and scientific evidence that supports the Bible. This new DVD, Patterns of Evidence: Exodus follows Timothy Mahoney as he tackles the question of whether the Bible -- specifically the accounts found in Exodus -- is fact, rather than fiction. He travels the world over many years to follow the evidence, finally coming to some rather startling conclusions about the events that shaped much of Judaeo-Christian history.
The DVD is narrated by Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) and features interviews with leading archaeologists from both sides of the issue, as well as Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu and Shimon Peres. The result is an in-depth and eye-opening look at the timelines and history surrounding the Exodus story. My husband and kids were enthralled with this DVD. It had some pretty compelling evidence and yet it also showed how and why some experts do not agree on this topic.
As a Bible believer, I believe this should be required viewing for any student looking to get the truth behind the Exodus story. It's a lengthy view (almost 2 hours), with lots and lots of info; we broke it up into two sessions, giving my kids a chance to reflect and ask questions of what they've seen.
