Easy Halloween Makeup Ideas for Kids -- and Baby!

Halloween costumes can get expensive, especially for a family as large as ours. By buying a few makeup kits, however, we can come up with many ideas for little money. It also allows our kids to be creative, as they are not limited by the most popular costumes available in stores.

We picked up two makeup kits from our local Walmart, and we let my 12-year-old son create looks for the boys. He went with superhero/villain themes for the older boys, and we did a very simple clown look for my toddler (who is not particularly cooperative with sitting still for makeup.)

Here is what we did:

Half Joker Face - This is an easy look, using white paint all over, a black smudgy eye, and red smiling mouth.

Half Deadpool Face - This used red for the face and black and grey accents for the eyes. (I don't think Deadpool ever smiled so much, however.)

Doctor Doom - This was a bit more work, but made use of green and black paint for contouring and shadows.

Baby Clown - Finally, we did a very simple black eye accent and understated red cheek "dimple". This was easier to do only by giving my son candy, as you can see the picture.

All of these ideas couldn't happen without the kid-friendly face paint kits at Walmart. With a broad assortment both in-store and online, you can find one that fits your personality (some even have sparkles!)
