I remember playing the soundtrack from Aladdin when I was in band in school. The movie had completely changed the landscape of entertainment, both with the film itself, and the songs that played over and over on the radio. I admit that I hadn't given much thought to the film since then, but the recent release of Disney's Blu-ray Diamond Edition of Aladdin had me thinking of it all over again. I sat and watched this film with my kids, and I caught all the funny little quips and lines that I missed as a youth, while watching them giggle and laugh as they experienced it for the first time!
The new Blu-ray certainly works its magic! With the amazing talent of Robin Williams on display for all of us to honor him again, it's almost too emotional at times. But what a film it is! We are so blessed to experience this movie in a remastered way with a new generation. I highly recommend catching it with your kids, too! You won't want to miss out hearing Academy Award®-winning music (1992: Best Music, Original Song, “A Whole New World,” Original Score) and now Aladdin shines even brighter with never-before-seen tributes to the enchanting talent of Robin Williams, the “Genius behind the Genie".
And the behind the scenes opportunities are plentiful, too. Just look at this neat clip showing Brad Kane (the voice of Aladdin) with a "then" and "now" comparison:
My, we've all grown, haven't we? Will you be watching the Diamond Edition of this great flick with your kids?
