Raising Kids from New Baby to Toddlers: My Formula for Happiness

I'm so excited to be partnering with Linqia and one of my favorite ever family brands, Gerber for their Gerber® Soothe probiotic Colic Drops. Colic is one of those problems that most all babies have, but their symptoms may not all show up in the same way. In fact, babies can act a little cranky, or they may be completely out of sorts in a way that can't even be explained.

And while crying in itself isn't necessarily bad. (In fact, it is a way for babies to express how they feel, and it's complete natural.) But 3 out of 10 babies may have crying that lasts for more than 3 hours a day, 3 days a week for more than 3 weeks a month, and this is often referred to as "colic." Colic can start from day one and for many months and occasionally -- even into the toddler years!

Did you know that research indicates that colic may be tied to tummy troubles? Research indicates that the type of bacteria in the infant’s intestine may determine whether a child is colicky. That's why I've always used a probiotic when nursing my babies (at the direction of my doctor) and I'm now also able to give them to my babies with the probiotic Lactobacillus reuteri that is found in the Gerber® Soothe probiotic Colic Drops. They can be helpful to the crying baby and the mom, as the probiotic has been clinically shown in multiple studies to reducing crying time in colicky infants. And that means “Less crying for babies More smiling for all!"

Manny. Not smiling.
Manny is 2 years old now, but dealt with issues in his infancy that could only be explained as colic. Since tummy troubles and fussiness are usually associated with colic, a good swaddling and the help of a probiotic seemed to work wonders. The Gerber® Soothe probiotic Colic Drops are what I would have used looking back, as breastfeeding moms are no different than formula moms when it comes to this problem. You can add it to their bottles (if formula feeding) or put it on your breast right before giving it to baby!

Soothing a fussy baby isn't just needed to keep babies happy, however. A mom (whether brand new or having her 6th child) needs to have some quiet, peaceful time with baby. When baby is calm and open to being cuddled and cared for, it bring a better bonding experience and makes motherhood an enjoyable experience! And that makes mom happy!

Manny. Smiling.
And what happens when a happy baby is nurtured and loved?

He grows into a happy toddler!  (Or, at least a goofy, adventurous one...)
