I don't know if you remember what a little fanboy Marcus was when he played the interactive app/ebook/game from Hullabalu featuring the purple, courageous, and adorable panda, Pan. It's been a few years, and Marcus has gotten older. We hadn't played in awhile, but we were just learned that new books have been released, and that the entire set is now available for download!
This news came just in time for our youngest Manny to really get involved with apps. We were able to review the entire series, including the newest sagas, and Manny and Marcus have been playing together over the past few days.
Who is Pan? "Pan" is short for Pandora Beriboldt, an orphaned panda who goes on training quests to gain skills and strength and to (hopefully) eventually find her parents. She has all kinds of adventures on the way, and also finds friendship and caring from some of the most unlikely characters! My boys love that they get to help Pan train for all kinds of challenges, that there is a bad guy in the series, and that Pan (while being a girl) is a resilient symbol of how brave boys and girls can be in the face of scary, tough, or difficult situations.
These books are very interactive. The voices are so well done. Each character adds their own flavor to the stories, and there is quite a bit of humor to offset the emotions that Pan goes through in the journey to find her parents. While it's entertaining enough for older kids, younger readers will find it to be gentle enough to play along, too!
The Adventures of Pan are available in the App Store, and I would recommend getting all of them for your kids. We have found that, as soon as the kids finish one, they are ready to go on to the next. Getting the whole collection lets them keep on their journey!
