Things get pretty hectic here at the Knerl household, and yet, I don't feel comfortable cutting corners with meals. My family has been getting home-cooked food, 3 times a day, forever... they would not be OK with cheapo frozen meals with little flavor or nutritional value.
When Good Food Made Simple asked me to try some of their meals, I wasn't sure how it would go over. I like the occasional frozen dinner, but my kids are picky. I picked up a few of the varieties I thought would be most popular at my local Target, and saved them for a particularly crazy day.
The first day, my teenage son was not around during lunch. He was mowing lawns and came home starving! I popped the Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese into the micro and let him have it. He said that it was spicy, but so good! He likes his food with a little kick, and the cheesy sauce on the macaroni tasted homemade!
So far, so good.
Then, my husband had a long day working outside and came in hungry. It was going to be awhile until dinner, so I gave him the Three Pepper Beef meal. He said it has some heat, as well, but he is a fan of spicy food. He gobbled it up and actually said he felt full. That never happens with most frozen dinners!
We tried several other kinds over the next week. All were very good as far as the quality of ingredients. All were tasty. Most were a bit spicy. I found it to be a nice convenient option on hand for the family that is running everywhere during the summer.
