Our family has anxiously been awaiting the home release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (or GOTG: Vol 2) so that our older teens and my husband I could watch. (Note: While this is a Marvel film, and all my kids were excited to watch, we realize that some of the movies are more appropriate for my older kids. This is one of those franchises.)
We decided that there would be no better way to celebrate the nostalgia that this movie always brings out then by having a pizza party. In the 90's, a pizza party was used to bribe kids for everything (grades in school, remembering your church communion lines, and even when you finished a dance recital.) We settled in for a fun evening of some slices and the latest GOTG: Vol 2 gear now available in stores. All of the kids got pizza, though...
In the BIG fun box of merch that we kindly received from Marvel and Disney Home Entertainment, we enjoyed a cool mix tape clip on sound machine, tiki mugs, some earbud decor, and the very adorable and Rock n' Roll R/C Groot. (You do not have to have seen the film franchise to think this is a very awesome toy.)
Topping our pizza party list was a pepperoni recipe that isn't too hard to put together and that is a fan favorite around here. The directions are as follows:
You'll need:
Add the yeast to the water and mix in the biscuit mix. Stir well for 2 minutes the allow to sit in the bowl for 5 minutes. Sprinkle a clean surface with extra biscuit mix and knead the dough until smooth. Separate into two balls and roll them out into 12-inch circles. Brush with olive oil and bake each on a cookie sheet or pizza pan in a 425 oven until done.
Now, it's time to top them. You'll need:
Spread the sauce evenly on each of the two pizza crusts. Then add the veggies, pepperoni, and finally the cheese. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 10 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly!
We watched the film (which was epic) and also got started on the HOURS of bonus features. The Blu-ray combo pack is full of them, making this a two-night event if you don't want to be up too late in the night. There is so much good stuff on there:
Blu-ray offers the 4-part "Making of the Guardians of the Galaxy" feature, done in the style of classic rock-rock album liner notes, as well as the Guardians Inferno Music Video, featuring David Hasselhoff! There is also four deleted scenes and audio commentary.
Digital includes all of these plus three scene breakdowns and a look at the new Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: Breakout! ride coming to Disneyland. Get exlusive concept pictures!
Note that the DVD does not contain any bonus materials, so if you are a big Guardians fan, you'll want to get the other formats (or the bundle). This release is also available in 4K, something that looks amazing! We haven't caught up to that tech yet -- no 4K TV here. But if you do, I highly recommend watching this film in the best definition available.
Get the film NOW where Marvel movies are sold or Amazon.com.
