Everywhere I go, it seems like my family is with me! And that's a very, very good thing. In fact, one of the most important questions I have to answer when planning any getaway seems to be "is it family friendly?"
You'll be happy to know that Macon, Georgia tops the list of places where kids can enjoy the sites, too. These destinations were the ones we were most excited about:
1. Amerson River Park
With over 180-acres to explore, you had better plan a whole day for this attraction! Take part in over a dozen physical activities that help you appreciate the beautiful forests, wetlands, and pasture-land contained inside. You can bike, hike, tube, or kayak. It's also a beautiful place for a picnic!

Start your engines! Get ready to race with a fun outdoor go-kart track, arcade games, and mini-golf. There is something here for kids of all ages!
3. Museum of Aviation
There's nothing better than an exciting day of learning -- especially when it's free! This museum is all about the sky and has four buildings full of collections from the best of aviation history, covering WWI - today.
4. Ocmulgee National Monument
Celebrate the heritage of the area with North America's only reconstructed Native American earth lodge. You can event take part of the annual Ocmulgee Indian Celebration that takes place the third week of September. There are places to eat and shop!
5. Sandy Beach Water Park
Fun in the sun is best during the summer months, but this destination is a must-see stop when the kids are out of school. A cool tower overlooks the splash pad, and there are wave pools and slides for everyone! Or you, can just go with the flow and cruise down the lazy river...
6. Georgia Sports Hall of Fame
Whether you follow ball or not, this is a very exciting stop! See the history and faces behind dozens of professional and hobby sports and activities, learn where your stars came from, and get ideas for staying active There's so much to see and do -- it's definitely not a boring visit.
