Are your kids Frozen fans? We sure are! And with the holidays just around the corner, it is the perfect time to celebrate with the just-released Olaf's Frozen Adventure! This 21-minute featurette includes Olaf (voiced by Josh Gad) and Sven on a mission to create traditions for the sisters Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel). The short explores the best of all holiday tradition and was inspirational for us in learning about new traditions and old for our own family.
Some of the fun things we learned about (and enjoyed with a fun gift box we received from Disney Home Entertainment) included:
Gingerbread - Who doesn't love this tasty recipe brought over to us from our friends in Germany? We love them with extra icing, don't you?
Fruitcake - My personal fave, this sticky sweet cake features notes of citrus, candied fruit, and chunky nuts. It has its roots all the way back in the Middle Ages!
Yule Bells - The ring-a-ling of the holiday is my favorite sound! I have so many fond memories of church bells in church. (I was even in the handbell choir when I was a kid.)
Lefse - This Norwegian flatbread is so delicious and goes with everything! (I like mine with Nutella.)
Candy Canes - Who doesn't love these yummy candies? We have them hanging on our tree each year, and there are so many unique flavors to choose from these days. This is another treat we can thank Germany for.
Dreidels - You don't have to be Jewish to enjoy this fun game that is now a competitive sport.
The Olaf's Frozen Adventure title also includes six classic Disney shorts. Check out your favorite Disney characters Donald, Goofy, Mickey, and Pluto as they enjoy the fun and hijinks of the season. Episodes include:
