Visit Nebraska: Big Changes Coming to Husker Harvest Days

My husband grew up in Western Nebraska, and he always talked fondly of Husker Harvest Days. What is this event? You have to see it to believe it, but I got the inside scoop on some major developments with this annual event aimed at celebrating everything that's innovative and good in the ag industry.

What is Husker Harvest Days?

Farm Progress puts on the event every year, and it's the nation's largest, totally irrigated working farm show. It hosts over 600 brands and exhibitors who want to show all the cool things the agricultural industry has to offer. You'll find big names (like Reinke, International, and more), along with local organizations, too. Fun things you'll see include tractors, combines, seed products, pest control innovations, buildings, farm animals, feed developments, and more. If you've been a farmer, wanted to be a farmer, needed to know about farming, or are looking to find the best new ideas in ag, this is the event for you!

(There are harvesting demos, animals, concessions, and entertainment. Plan on bringing the whole family and making a day of it.)

When is Husker Harvest Days?

This year, the event takes place September 11-13.

Where is Husker Harvest Days?

It's located six miles west of Grand Island on Husker Highway at 9000 W. Husker Highway,
Wood River, NE 68883.

Where Can I Stay?

The bad news is that many of the Grand Island hotels are already sold out! But, you can stay in the area at a Kearney hotel. It's a quick drive to the event (under 45 minutes) and well worth the extra effort.

How Much Does It Cost?

Tickets for the event can be purchased online in minimums of four at a price of $9 per adult, one-day admission. However, you can buy tickets at the event. Adults are $12, kids 13-17 are $6, and kids under 12 are free!

While we plan on covering the event itself on September 11th, I wanted to give you a sneak peek at some of the exciting changes that have happened to the event. With this being their 41st year, they have committed to improving some of the features of the event. Among the most exciting:

  • Completely renovated drainage. No more standing in mud or water! This amazing drainage pond catches all the runoff and makes it a drier experience for everyone.

  • Improved wi-fi throughout the event, updated fire hydrants, and improved safety processes.
  • Concrete in many of the buildings.
  • Updated parking areas, with traffic being rerouted so that it's less congested.

I'm really looking forward to the food, festivities (including a beer garden), vendors, and music. Come out and enjoy the wonder of the ag business with your family at this annual event!
